The Two Year run of Forest Joe

♥️🖤💚This black history month I am honoring the Black Warriors that fought for Black liberation💚🖤♥️ Today we have the legandary Forest Joe who kept the planters of South Carolina on their toes from 1821 to 1823. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– A majority of the facts here come from the book "Slavery's Exiles: The Story of the American Maroons" by Sylviane A. Diouf Again I also like Michael Harriet's telling of the story in Black AF History! Picture is not Forest Joe but another picture from a Google seach of Kerry James Marshall's work he's an amazing artist but I can't find an internet presence to link to his work directly but there are plenty of appreciation pages! (FEEL FREE TO SHARE OR BE INFLUENCED AND GIVE ME MY CREDIT BUT DO NOT COPY MY WORK 🖤💚🖤)

    Cato's Rebellion (A.k.a. Stono Rebellion)

♥️🖤💚This black history month I am honoring the Black Warriors that fought for Black liberation💚🖤♥️ Today we have Jemmy Cato who, on Sunday, September 9th, 1739 lead the biggest insurrection of enslaved people against British Colonizers in North America during what they call "The Stono Rebellion" You can learn more about the Stono Rebellion in the book "Stono: Documenting and Interpreting a Southern Slave Revolt" by Mark M. Smith I also really love they way Michael Harriet tells the story in his book "Black AF History" (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) and my story (as well as my understanding of history) is heavily influenced by his account(s). Picture Downloaded from a Google seach that lead me to Kerry James Marshall's work he's an amazing artist but I can't find an internet presence to link you to his work directly but there are plenty of appreciation pages! The Names They Thought You Would Forget

HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH GOOD PEOPLE, ALL PEOPLE, BUT ESPECIALLY MY PEOPLE. Black history month is a month for us to remember and honor who we ARE and have always been. This is how we take back what was stolen, remember what was forgeten, and find what was NEVER lost. This year with everything going on I want to highlight and remind us of our Black Warriors. One of the first things stripped from our ancestors was their Spirituality, because their spirituality was the source of their resilience, their resistance, and most importantly their REBELLION. So today I bring you of all the African Warrior Deities that I know of and where they are from. Please feel free to comment any that you know! Or a word or two about the deities, or sources to find more information on them! (FEEL FREE TO SHARE, BUT DO NOT COPY MY WORK!)
