    Season 9 Episode 15 | Prophets, Shepherds, Poets and Kings | 1 Samuel 25-27

    Prophets, Shepherds, Poets and Kings is a series delving into the history of the people of God found in 1 and 2 Samuel. We continue our deep dive into the history of the people of God in 1 and 2 Samuel. We began with a longed for baby, continued with a cry for a king which was fulfilled in the anointing of Saul. He began well but things went downhill with a series of catastrophic failures that led to God rejecting him as king. We then met a young shepherd boy called David, a keen harpist, giant slayer, good friend and, as we discovered last time, cave dweller. In this episode we learn about what happened next in this series which we’re calling this Prophets, Shepherds, Poets and Kings. The story continues in 1 Samuel 25-27. with discussion of leadership, influence, misogyny and more ambushes. There are segments to enjoy including the reading of the passage, 'The Cloud' and 'What Now?'.     Prophets, Shepherds, Poets and Kings is a series delving into the history of the people of God found in 1 and 2 Samuel. Beginning with a a longed for baby, we continue with a cry for a king, fulfilled in the anointing of Saul. To begin with we noticed that Saul took a lead with the people,  a series of catastrophic failures followed leading to God rejecting him as king. Then we met a young shepherd boy called David who was a keen harpist and giant slayer in this series which we’re calling this Prophets, Shepherds, Poets and Kings.  The story continues in 1 Samuel 20 with an exploration of covenantal friendship and the story of David and Jonathan. There's discussion of family dynamics, archery and how to be a good friend. There are segments to enjoy including the reading of the passage, 'The Cloud' and 'What Now?'.     Prophets, Shepherds, Poets and Kings is a series delving into the history of the people of God found in 1 and 2 Samuel. Beginning with a longed for baby, leading to a cry for a king and the establishment and dissolution of a kingdom, the series will focus on the lives of Samuel, Saul and David. The story continues in 1 Samuel 9-10 with the calling of Saul, a man who on first look appears to be the perfect choice to be king. We explore calling, gifting and the importance of trusting in God.  There are segments to enjoy including the reading of the passage, 'The Cloud' and 'What Now?'.
