Ep. 26 | In The Beginning | God Walks With Adam

Why do we hide from God when we need Him most? In this episode, Ricky and Alan continue their study of Genesis 3, exploring Adam and Eve’s response when they hear the Lord moving through the Garden of Eden. Through a closer look at Genesis 3:8–14, they reflect on the language of God’s presence, the significance of hearing His voice, and how sin changes our response to a God who has not changed. What was once an invitation to fellowship becomes a moment of fear and shame. The conversation examines the connection between hearing and obeying God, challenging us to consider which voices shape our decisions. Adam and Eve listened to the wrong voice, disobeyed God, and then tried to hide and shift the blame. Yet God came toward them and asked, “Where are you?” Rather than simply seeking information, this question offers an opportunity for honest response. Ricky and Alan reflect on how God seeks, calls, and questions before announcing judgment, demonstrating His persistent desire to bring people out of hiding and toward repentance. In a world filled with distractions and competing voices, this passage reminds us to slow down, listen carefully to Scripture, and respond faithfully to the Lord. Even when we feel ashamed or have tried to cover our own failures, God continues to pursue us with grace and mercy. Ultimately, the pursuit we see in Eden points us toward Jesus Christ, who came to seek and save the lost. Discover how Genesis 3 invites us to stop hiding, take responsibility for our sin, and respond to the God who knows exactly where we are. For more resources visit: calvaryga.com

Ep. 25 | In The Beginning | You Will Surely Die

What really happened when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden? In this episode, Ricky and Alan begin exploring Genesis 3, discussing the fall of humanity, the serpent’s deception, and the consequences of disobedience. They consider what Scripture reveals—and what remains uncertain—about the creation and rebellion of spiritual beings, while focusing on the central turning point of the biblical story: humanity’s rebellion against God. The conversation explores what it means that God warned Adam and Eve they would surely die. Beyond physical death, sin brings immediate spiritual separation from God and leaves humanity liable to death. Yet even in judgment, God demonstrates mercy. He does not abandon His people, continues to meet them outside the garden, and provides animal-skin garments to cover their shame. Ricky and Alan reflect on how this moment points toward the biblical theme of substitutionary atonement and the righteousness God provides rather than the inadequate coverings we try to make for ourselves. From the consequences of sin to the first glimpses of redemption, Genesis 3 reminds us that God’s grace meets humanity in its brokenness. We cannot overcome sin or restore our relationship with God through our own efforts. Our hope is found in Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, who provides the lasting covering we need. Join the conversation and discover how the story of the fall already begins to reveal God’s plan of redemption. For more resources visit: calvaryga.com

Ep. 24 | In The Beginning | God’s Design for Marriage and Becoming One

What does the Garden of Eden teach us about marriage, relationships, and God’s plan to bless the world? In this episode, Ricky and Alan continue exploring Genesis 2, reflecting on the rivers flowing from Eden, God’s blessing to the nations, and the biblical foundation for marriage. They consider how God’s grace can extend even to our enemies and estranged family members, challenging us to pursue reconciliation rather than resentment. The conversation then turns to Genesis 2:24 and God’s design for marriage: leaving, cleaving, and becoming one flesh. What does it mean for two people to share a life, strengthen one another, and grow together in Christ? Ricky and Alan discuss the meaning of the biblical word translated “rib,” the shared dignity of man and woman, and how marriage involves more than finding a supposedly perfect match. A healthy marriage is built as two imperfect people commit to loving God, loving one another, and helping each other become more like Christ. Whether you’re married, single, or considering marriage in the future, this episode offers practical encouragement to pursue Jesus individually, understand your strengths and weaknesses, and prepare to serve another person faithfully. Discover how your relationships can reflect the gospel and how your unique gifts, when joined together with another person, can make a lasting impact on your family and community.
