Maeek and Gentle Resistance, Matt. 5:38-48

‘Peacemaking doesn't mean passivity. It is the act of interrupting injustice without mirroring injustice, the act of disarming evil without destroying the evildoer, the act of finding a third way that is neither fight nor flight but the careful, arduous pursuit of reconciliation and justice. It is about a revolution of love that is big enough to set both the oppressed and the oppressors free’ And beloved in a world that is filled with Goodness we still are vexed by a real history of evil and its continued expressions in our world - how do we stand against evil? Fight or Flight? Today we proclaim something big enough to see the oppressed and oppressor free - the Love of God revealed in Christ and that remains good news!

    Change The World, Matthew 5:13-16

Salt and Light is NOT a rallying call to ‘Change the World for Christ’. Now hear this - it is NOT our job to change the world! Jesus is the Savior of the world -- NOT us! Changing the world is a task belonging to Jesus! Our job is far more modest; our job is to become part of the world changed by Christ! He is the actual Light of the World - so beloved to be salt and light is to live surrendered to what is actually real and that beloved is good news!

    All Will Be Well

Beloved the Good News we proclaim is that in the midst of the unending headlines filled with human suffering, harm and pain - God has come to tell a story to weave a tapestry of His Grace - that every detail of our lives is touched by this Grace to tell an eternal story that we have become a part of - this is the mystery of our confession. We believe in a Grace that will make all things work together - so we can say - all shall be well.

Shine Like the Sun, Matthew 13:24-30,36-43

the change the world around me needs will not come as a result of me pretending to be like Jesus but it will be when the living word Jesus changes me.

    Listening, Matthew 13:1-9,18-23

Into your life and mine the sowing God has come and His economy is not based on how the world works. In the Sower’s world wastefulness gives way to hope, inefficiency to love, failure to faith and profitability to generosity. According to the scripture every part of your life has been sown with the seeds of God... ‘where can I hide from your presence..’ the Psalmist proclaims. The seeds of God in the sunrise, in the flower bursting with color, in winter giving way to spring...the seeds birthing a revelation of a mystery that says God loves you - seeds giving way to love, compassion, forgiveness, change and new life. This is the gospel of the Kingdom and it is good news.

    Rest, Matthew 11:16-30

The Good News we proclaim today is that Jesus still invites us to life - to surrender to the truth of His Father who is generous and kind. Who offers life in the unforced rhythms of grace who invites us to learn to live freely and lightly...no religious passport required - come to Me and you will recover your life. Because He has always known who you are and where you belong.

    The Wordless Gospel

Into a world filled with words of division, judgment, violence and uncertainty. Jesus reveals a wordless gospel revealed in welcoming - receiving the least, the last and ever our enemies. A gospel not bound by human dictionary’s but defined by boundless reach of the love of the Father to the human heart and that beloved is good news!
