Rewiring A Man’s Identity Through Faith And Discipline

Let me know what you think of this episode? When your results start slipping, do you hustle harder or question who you are? Jake Giffin joins us to discuss that the real issue usually isn’t tactics, it’s identity, and identity is tied to proximity. Jake is the founder and CEO of Halo Home Services, a leadership and sales coach, and the creator of the D6 coaching model, a framework designed to help men reverse engineer their outcomes and get back into alignment with God. If you’ve ever felt confident when you’re winning and crushed when you’re not, this conversation puts language on why. We dig into what it means to “rewire” or “reprogram” the mind as a Christian without turning faith into a self-help project. Jake connects modern psychology with biblical psychology, measuring tools like transactional analysis and NLP against Scripture, then grounding the process in Romans 12:2, taking thoughts captive, and the put off and put on pattern. We also use Galatians 5 as a practical diagnostic: if the fruit of the Spirit isn’t showing up, what are you actually walking in, and what belief system is feeding it? We go straight at the common reasons Christian men feel passive, numb, or stuck even when they believe in God: shame, distance, and the subtle lie of “I’m basically fine.” Jake explains how a man’s identity drives beliefs, beliefs drive conduct, and conduct creates the conditions he lives in, for better or worse. He also shares his upcoming book, Made Man, plus a free assessment at mademan.net/assessment for anyone who wants to get honest about their current results. The Hidden Wound: How Moral Injury Isn't Just PTSD and Why It Matters

Let me know what you think of this episode? Some trauma is fueled by fear. Some trauma is fueled by guilt, shame, and the quiet sentence, “I can’t be forgiven.” That’s where the idea of moral injury changes the entire conversation about PTSD, spiritual health, and what real healing requires.  We talk with Navy chaplain Larry Blant, who brings 25 years of pastoral ministry, years of police and fire chaplaincy, and combat experience with Marines in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Larry explains PTSD as fear-based trauma and moral injury as the deeper wound that forms when you do something, are ordered to do something, or fail to prevent something that violates your core moral and spiritual beliefs. If you’ve ever heard someone say, “My soul feels shattered,” Larry helps us name what’s happening and why a quick fix rarely works.  We also get practical: how to find a safe place to tell the story, why many people pull away from family and church, and how programs like Building Spiritual Strength bring pastoral counseling and mental health care together for veterans and active duty service members. Along the way, Larry shares what he learned as an ICU chaplain during COVID, what effective VA support can look like, and how grace can rebuild a person’s faith, relationships, and sense of self even when the memories don’t disappear.  If you care about veterans, first responders, trauma recovery, spiritual care, or church leadership, this conversation offers language, warning signs, and a hopeful path forward. Subscribe, share this with someone who needs it, and leave a review so more people can find these resources. The Surprising Link Between Narcissistic Abuse and Distorted Views of God

Let me know what you think of this episode? Trauma doesn’t have to be dramatic to be real. When someone lives through years of control, gaslighting, and image-obsessed “love,” the nervous system can start acting like it’s still in danger, even after the relationship ends. That’s why I sat down with Taylor Williams, founder of Trinity Trauma Therapy, to talk about narcissistic abuse recovery, religious trauma, and the quiet ways pain gets stored in the body and mind. We dig into what narcissistic behaviour actually looks like: a selective lack of empathy, constant deflection, denial, and the pressure to keep up a public story at any cost. Taylor explains why so many clients report PTSD symptoms without a single “classic” trauma event, and how spiritual abuse can happen when Scripture is used as a control tactic. If you’ve ever struggled to see God as a good Father because faith was tied to fear, shame, or conditional approval, you’ll hear language that helps you separate God’s character from someone else’s manipulation. Taylor also breaks down EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) in plain terms, including bilateral stimulation and how the brain can “rewire” around old memories. We talk about why safety and basic needs matter before deep trauma work, what healthy support can look like for Christians and non-Christians alike, and the first boundaries that often signal real freedom: saying no without over-explaining, protecting your time, and finally naming your wants and needs. If this conversation helps, subscribe, share it with someone who needs hope, and leave a review so more survivors can find real support. "Separation of Church and State: A Historical Perspective"

Let me know what you think of this episode? Most Americans misunderstand the true meaning of the separation of church and state. In this eye-opening episode, filmmaker Andrew Linn uncovers the surprising history behind one of the most misunderstood principles in our Constitution—and how it was meant to protect, not abolish, religion. Andrew takes us back to the 17th century, revealing how Roger Williams, a radical Puritan and the founder of Rhode Island, pioneered the first formal separation of church and state in the American colonies. His belief that government should never control religious beliefs is not only foundational to American freedom but a vital shield for genuine faith today. As we mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, Andrew challenges common misconceptions—explaining that separation was never meant to eliminate religion from public life, but to safeguard it from government overreach. You'll discover: the biblical grounding for religious liberty, the origins of laws influenced by Christian morals, and why America’s founders embraced religious freedom—not as an attack on faith, but as its ultimate protection. We break down how misunderstood concepts like “freedom from religion” versus “freedom of religion” shape political debates, and why rejecting this distinction threatens our liberties. We explore the ongoing rise of Christian nationalism, the cultural decay that fuels it, and how history shows that true faith flourishes best in free societies—not theocracies. Plus, hear insights from historians, legal experts, and believers on how to foster respectful, informed dialogue on divisive issues—something more crucial than ever in today’s polarized climate. Whether you're a history buff, a Christian seeking understanding, or a patriot committed to Liberty, this episode will reshape your view of religious freedom in America. Andrew Linn’s documentary, “Church and State,” is a call to remember the true purpose of this constitutional principle and to defend it with wisdom and love. Tune in to understand why the separation of church and state is less about banishing religion and more about protecting the faith that built this nation—and why protecting that faith ensures the liberty we cherish. Perfect for anyone eager to understand the roots of American freedom and how to defend it today.
