Are you married, but spiritually single?

You can sleep in the same bed, raise the same children, attend the same church, and still be moving in two completely different spiritual directions. In this episode of the Covenant Army Marriage Podcast, Brent and Lucy unpack what it means to become spiritually aligned as husband and wife and why spiritual unity is critical to building a strong, biblical marriage. Spiritual alignment does not mean you pray the same, think the same, or have identical spiritual gifts. It means you are surrendered to the same Lord, governed by the same biblical truth, and committed to the same Kingdom mission. Discover the warning signs of spiritual misalignment in marriage, how busyness, unresolved hurt, spiritual passivity, secret sin, and competing priorities can create division, and practical ways to rebuild spiritual intimacy, prayer, unity, communication, and purpose. Brent and Lucy also address one of the hardest situations in Christian marriage: What do you do when one spouse wants to grow spiritually and the other doesn’t? Plus, they give couples a practical Spiritual Alignment Meeting to help identify areas of drift and begin moving back toward Christ and each other. Jesus should not simply be included in your marriage. He should be the Commander of your marriage. When a husband and wife stand shoulder to shoulder under the authority of Jesus Christ, hell does not see two isolated believers. It sees a Covenant Army. Are Your Marriage Struggles Actually a Broken Vow?

What if the vows you spoke on your wedding day were never meant to be beautiful words you simply said once, but a covenant you were called to live out every single day? In this powerful episode of the Covenant Army Marriage Podcast, Brent and Lucy take you back to the wedding altar and break down the traditional Christian wedding vows from a biblical covenant perspective. What does it really mean to say, “I take you,” “to have and to hold,” “for better or for worse,” “for richer or for poorer,” “in sickness and in health,” “to love and to cherish,” “until death do us part,” and “I pledge you my faithfulness”? These aren't merely romantic promises. They are a blueprint for how husbands and wives are called to love, serve, protect, remain faithful, and fight together through every season of marriage. In this episode, you'll discover: • Why God is a witness to your marriage covenant• Why marriage cannot survive on feelings alone• What it really means to intentionally choose your spouse every day• How “to have and to hold” points to biblical oneness• Why emotional safety is essential in a covenant marriage• How husbands and wives can move forward together instead of living separate lives• What “for better or for worse” really means when marriage gets difficult• How financial pressure can either divide a couple or strengthen their unity• What “in sickness and in health” looks like in real life• Why loving and cherishing your spouse must continue even during conflict• How your words can either protect or destroy the covenant• Why using the word “divorce” as a weapon can damage safety and trust• What biblical faithfulness looks like beyond simply avoiding an affair• Why your marriage belongs under God's authority, not cultural definitions• How to evaluate whether your marriage is actually reflecting the covenant you promised before God• Three powerful questions every married couple should ask about their vows Most importantly, Brent and Lucy challenge couples to stop simply remembering their vows and start living them. Your wedding day was one day. Your covenant is lived out every day. When you are tired. When money is tight. When communication breaks down. When temptation comes. When forgiveness is difficult. When your spouse disappoints you. When life doesn't look anything like you expected. That is where your vows become real. As believers, marriage is more than staying married. It is about becoming one flesh, fighting together, and fulfilling the mission God has entrusted to your marriage and family. If you're ready to strengthen your covenant, protect your marriage, and put God back at the center of your relationship, this episode is for you. One Flesh. One Fight. One Mission. Listen together with your spouse, pull out your wedding vows, and ask each other: What part of our vows are we living out well? What part have we neglected? What is one thing I can begin doing this week to better live out my vows?Does our marriage currently reflect the covenant we promised before God? Chapters 00:00 Introduction and purpose of the episode 02:16 Reflecting on marriage anniversaries and vows 04:53 Remembering what was promised at the altar 12:05 The purpose and power of wedding vows as a battle plan 19:49 Living as one and the importance of unity 28:18 Understanding 'For better or for worse' and enduring seasons 44:03 Loving and cherishing unconditionally 49:21 The seriousness of 'Till death do us part' and covenant fidelity 01:02:11 Living out vows daily and the importance of faithfulness 01:04:29 The role of Jesus Christ in marriage and covenant faithfulness https://covenantarmy.org/

What Table Are You Sitting At? The Warning Every Married Couple Needs

You Cannot Sit at Two Tables: Guarding Your Marriage from Spiritual Compromise What table are you sitting at? In this powerful episode of the Covenant Army Marriage Podcast, Brent and Lucy unpack the sobering warning of 1 Corinthians 10:21: “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.” This isn't just a warning about what you believe. It is a warning about what you allow into your marriage, home, heart, mind, and family. As Christian husbands and wives, we can’t ask God to bless our covenant while continually making room for the things that undermine it. Pornography, inappropriate relationships, old flames, social media, resentment, bitterness, unforgiveness, entertainment, worldly influences, emotional connections outside the marriage, and compromise can slowly become comfortable guests at our table. And the enemy rarely announces himself. Often, spiritual compromise begins with something that seems small, harmless, or insignificant. One compromise becomes another. Eventually, something that once convicted us becomes something we tolerate. In this episode, Brent and Lucy challenge husbands and wives to take an honest spiritual inventory of their marriage and ask: What have we allowed to sit at the table of our marriage that God never invited? You’ll discover why: • Your spouse is not the enemy • The battle in marriage is often flesh versus Spirit • Small compromises can create significant spiritual consequences • What you repeatedly consume eventually influences what you believe and how you behave • Husbands are called to take responsibility for the spiritual direction of their households • Wives have a powerful role in guarding the atmosphere and influences within the home • Not every friendship, relationship, entertainment choice, or influence belongs at your marriage table • Godly counsel strengthens marriage, while unhealthy counsel can create division • Repentance means more than feeling sorry. It means turning around and changing direction • Your covenant is worth protecting because it is valuable to God Most importantly, this episode is not about condemning imperfect marriages. It is about conviction, repentance, restoration, spiritual alignment, and choosing God again. If you've been asking God to strengthen your marriage while continuing to hold onto something He is asking you to surrender, this episode is your invitation to get up from the wrong table. Choose the table of the Lord. Choose your covenant. Choose holiness. Choose unity. Choose the mission God has given you. One Flesh. One Fight. One Mission. If this episode challenges you, don't just listen to it. Listen to it with your spouse. Then ask each other: “What table have we been sitting at, and what is God calling us to leave?” That conversation could be the beginning of a powerful change in your marriage. Why Unforgiveness Is a Demonic Doorway In Marriage

What if the greatest threat to your marriage isn't the argument you're having, but the offense you refuse to release? In this powerful episode of the Covenant Army Marriage Podcast, Brent and Lucy tackle one of the most underestimated threats to a covenant marriage: unforgiveness. Unresolved offenses don't simply disappear. They can become bitterness, resentment, contempt, emotional withdrawal, intimacy problems, spiritual dryness, and division within your home. More importantly, Scripture warns us that unresolved anger can give the enemy a foothold. Brent and Lucy break down what unforgiveness really is, how it quietly manifests in marriage, and why forgiveness does not mean pretending the hurt never happened, restoring trust instantly, or removing necessary boundaries. You'll discover: • How unforgiveness can create spiritual and emotional territory for the enemy• The difference between pain, forgiveness, trust, and reconciliation• Five warning signs that unforgiveness may be operating in your marriage• Why keeping a mental scorecard is destroying intimacy• How unforgiveness can affect your prayer life and spiritual intimacy• Practical steps to identify, release, and close the door on bitterness• Why forgiveness is a decision of obedience, not a feeling• How couples can handle old wounds when painful memories resurface• Why husbands and wives must learn to fight together instead of fighting each other This episode also includes a deeply personal testimony about the freedom that came when unforgiveness was finally surrendered to God. If there is an offense you've been carrying for months or even years, this conversation may be the wake up call your marriage needs. You can't close a door you refuse to identify. It's time to stop keeping score, release the debt to God, and protect the covenant. Listen now, and remember: One Flesh. One Fight. One Mission.
