In this episode, I chat with Ian Marber. Having been passionate about food from an early age, Ian’s interest in food and nutrition was piqued when diagnosed with coeliac disease when he was in his late twenties. Ian went on to give up a successful career in investment to study nutrition and as well as writing multiple books and form several nutrition businesses including his nutritional consultancy, he also advises companies on food label information and legal aspects to nutritional content. I've followed Ian's weekly twitter poll for a while now where he posts 2 nutrition-related bits of nonsense from the world of social media under the hashtag #nutrtibollocks. Ep 19 - Ken Bamford - The Samaritans and mental health in sport

In this episode, I chat with veteran Samaritan Ken Bamford. Ken's been helping people through the Samaritans organisation for years in all aspects of society but I wanted to hear more about his work within sport and how he's using a new initiative to help sportsmen and women to work on their mental health. Not only can Ken's tips and advice work within sport but it can be applied across lots of areas like the workplace for example. Ep 18 - Richie Kirwan - Lockdown, PHD's and tackling Sarcopenia

In this episode I chat with Richie on his career to date and how he finds carrying out a PHD in lockdown. The big topic we cover is Sarcopenia (Muscle loss as we get older) and what can we do to combat it! Richie Kirwan is a nutritionist and nutrition PhD candidate at Liverpool John Moores University where he investigates the use of high protein diets and resistance exercise to reduce cardiac risk in people with cardiovascular disease. He has a BSc in Biological Sciences from University College Cork and an MSc in Human Nutrition and Metabolism from the University fo Barcelona.
