How To Start A Music Publishing Company.

Show Notes:  Recorded Dec 17th, 2021 How To Start A Music Publishing Company. I'm going to show you how to create a music publishing company in under 5 minutes. Introduction: Hi, my name is Philip Williams, and I'm here today to teach you how to start your own music publishing company. There are so many benefits of doing this including making money off royalties, getting the copyright for the songs, and more! Let me show you 3 steps on how it's done. Step 1: Name your company The first step is to name your company. This can be anything you want, but it's important to make sure the name is available as copyright. You can do a quick Google search to make sure the name is available. Once you have the name, you'll also need to create a logo and make business cards. Step 2: Register your company The next step is to register your company with the government. This can be done easily online and will cost you around $100. Make sure you have all of your company information handy including the name, address, and contact information. Step 3: Get publishing rights The last step is to get the publishing rights for your songs. This can be done through a music publishing company or you can do it yourself. If you're doing it yourself, you'll need to register with performance rights organizations like BMI or ASCAP. This will give you the right to collect royalties from the songs you publish. Conclusion: Publishing songs is a great way to make passive income and I recommend that you do it. There are so many benefits of doing this including getting the copyright for the song, making money off royalties, and more! I hope you enjoyed this video on how to start your own music publishing company. If you want to see an over-the-shoulder demo of how to set up your company with BMI? You can watch my other video. 3 Ways For Artists To Build Fan Engagement.

3 Ways For Artists To Build Fan Engagement. Have you ever tried to get more Fan engagement? If  so, you'll know that it's difficult to achieve. No likes to your  Facebook or Instagram posts. . No shares likes or comments on your  YouTube video posts. Nobody is clicking the links to listen to your  Spotify page.. So what do you do? There are many methods you can use to be successful. But there are a few things you should know before you choose what to do. Here’s what we’d recommend: #1 - Make sure your creating a web series to let your fans in on your lifestyle and touring…  (Get out of the house)  That's how it’s done. Show people that there is  much more to you than just you begging them to buy your new single or  download your latest mixtape. If  you don’t pay attention to this, you’ll continue to have the problems  of people not paying attention to you. No music sales. No streams and No  merch being bought. Stop listening to other broke artists that will try  to give you advice (extremely dangerous advice) all the time. #2 - Pick one focus..  Facebook or Instagram. A lot of people screw up because they’re rushing  things and thinking short-term so they forget to Stay consistent with  learning how to master one social media platform first before you start  on the next one.. Choose to focus on one platform, get results and then  start to apply what you learn to the next social media platform. #3 - Pay attention to the 80/20 rule.  Once you know this rule, you are half way to learning the secret to  mastering social media. For every 10 posts. 8 of those posts should only  be about relevant content and life style. Things that make people have a  certain emotion (happy Sad, Mad, Laughter.  These are the posts that  will get you the most engagement.  The other 20% or posts that you make  should only be about your product goods or service ie. Music., things  will be a lot easier for you trust me lol. Now that you know how  to get your social media numbers poppin to get you the kind of  engagement that will generate real traction., you're ready to get there  without worrying! If you can think of any other tips that I might have missed i'd love to hear them. Just comment down below.

3 Ways To Stay Relevant During Quarantine!

3 Ways To Stay Relevant During Quarantine Gone are the old days of the music industry where you would hope to get signed and then become a star (i.e. everything would be done for you). Today you need to view yourself (and your music) through the lens of three very important truths. I call them the new rules of the music industry, and those who play by them will succeed. #1 You are a brand You have to do the work. You have to develop as an artist and a marketer of your own brand. You aren’t just an artist you are now the brand. You will need to do the research and begin to think like a business owner. Learn business, learn marketing, learn promotion, learn how to #2 - You Are A Content Creator (Anything thats relative and related to what you do and what your audience is interested in). This is huge, even big brands are starting to learn this for their brans i.e. Coke Netflix, ect. Don’t just make music. You have to start viewing yourself as a content creator including video helpful information give people something interesting to learn about you. It’s all about staying engaged with your audience and reminding them that you still exist. This will help you to stand apart from the rest of artists. #3 -  It Doesn’t have to be perfect Get your music out there. Keep the music coming and don’t allow yourself to become stagnant and periled because your music isn’t perfect. Allow people to watch your growth as you grow. In the old days 80s, 90s records and videos were coming out every 2 years. Now you have to be more frequent in your projects.
