    K2 Part 2: Showing Crevasse

This week on Death is Everything we continue our deep dive (climb?) of the deadly K2 by considering what goes into the exploratory spirit that leads people to risk their lives for glory. Hurray for adventurers! We then, to everyone’s surprise, recount the tragedies that befell said brave sojourners during the disastrous 1986 and 1995 expeditions. They died doing what they loved and that’s what matters. Hey, future K2 climbers: please, PLEASE listen to the weather forecast and observations of those with experience before climbing this treacherous mountain. Please? You’ve been warned! RIP to Marianne’s precious BIC Atlantis, 2019-2026, your heroic deeds will be remembered. It’s official: Marianne has deadly mountains on the brain and she can’t get enough! This week she breaks down her deep dive into K2 after an update with her first murder mountain love, Mt. Everest. K2, while not quite as tall as Mt. Everest, has proven to be a significantly more treacherous peak to climb, with a litany of associated tragic expeditions and plenty of broken and frozen bodies to show for it. She regales the wide-eyed DIE crew with a plethora of stats, exploratory lore, perilous vistas, and stories a-plenty of humanity’s continued effort to reach new heights, albeit often with a cost. Tune in to this first of several installments on the mighty K2! Melding Into the Greater Consciousness

It was our pleasure to interview Liz Scott, psychologist and writer, whose new book “You’re Going to Die… But Not Me!” is a poignant and hilarious discourse on her exploration of her fears concerning death. Today she talks with us about her personal experiences with death and death care, her perspective on mortality, and what if anything may come after. We also hear her thoughts on burial practices and how she views people’s personal perception of death and the natural fear of the unknown. Her book is a deep and clever look into one person’s headspace concerning death and the larger existential and philosophical concepts at play, all done with a sense of humor that brings levity to sombre subject matter. We cannot recommend it enough!
