It was lifted from a single letter written by Thomas Jefferson in 1802, taken out of context in a 1947 Supreme Court opinion that had no legal precedent, and has been cited in over 4,000 cases since—while the First Amendment itself has been cited in fewer than 3,000. That is not history. That is misinformation. And our children have been paying the price ever since. Since prayer was removed from schools in 1962 and the Bible in 1963, divorce rates climbed, SAT scores dropped, and a generation was handed the world without the foundation to navigate it.
