Faith's Consolation

Message of Reconciliation

A New Body

Your body is not the whole story, and it’s definitely not the final draft. Then we open 1 Corinthians 15 and follow Paul straight into two blunt questions people still ask today: How can the dead be raised, and what kind of body could possibly come after death? We unpack Paul’s seed analogy in plain language, because it’s one of the most grounded pictures of Christian resurrection hope in the Bible. A seed looks like nothing, gets buried, and then God gives it a new body fit for new life. That image reshapes how we think about burial, grief, and the fear of death. A cemetery isn’t just a place of endings; for believers it’s a place of planting, waiting for the resurrection of the dead secured by Jesus’ own resurrection. From there we explore what Scripture emphasizes and what it refuses to speculate on. Waiting is one of the hardest commands in the Bible because it confronts what we crave most: control, quick answers, and relief on our schedule. From Habakkuk 2, we walk through a surprisingly practical picture of faith under pressure, where God tells a confused prophet to stand watch, record the vision, and wait because God’s plan will arrive at the appointed time. We break down three concrete ways to wait on the Lord when life feels unfair, chaotic, or spiritually dry. First, we wait patiently, not by pretending we’re fine, but by humbling ourselves and letting go of the arrogance that assumes we know what tomorrow will bring. Then we talk about how trials can become personal growth instead of pointless pain, as endurance matures faith and turns pressure into refining fire. Along the way we draw from James and Job to show how suffering can deepen prayer, strengthen character, and produce a steadier trust in God’s sovereignty. Next, we wait prospectively, climbing the “tower” for a bigger view. Faith Faces Evil

Some Bible stories feel distant until you realize they’re describing your own week. Habakkuk is a prophet staring straight at violence, injustice, and spiritual collapse and then daring to ask God the question most of us whisper: How long? We start a new summer section on living by faith by walking through Habakkuk 1 and the book’s key line, “the righteous one will live by his faith” (Habakkuk 2:4). We set the scene in Judah after the death of King Josiah, when corruption spreads and justice gets twisted. Habakkuk brings a burden to God, not polished prayers, and God responds with a plan that sounds unbelievable: Babylon is coming. That’s where the crisis hits, because God’s answer feels like more evil, not less. From there, we get practical. The Birth and Growth of Faith

A woman meets Jesus at a well and leaves her water jar behind. A father walks home with nothing but a sentence to hold onto: “Your son lives.” Those aren’t just Bible stories to admire from a distance, they’re case studies in how real faith begins and how it grows when you’re scared, stuck, or tired of waiting for proof. We open John’s Gospel where he tells us exactly why he writes: so we can believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and by believing have eternal life. From John chapter 4, we trace three parts of genuine faith through the Samaritan woman: receiving the right information about Jesus, recognizing Jesus as the true object of faith, and then acting on what we believe. Her response is immediate and concrete, and it shows how trust moves from the mind into motion. Then we zoom out to the bigger theme running through the chapter: faith is born through hearing the word of truth. We connect the dots with Romans 10:17, 1 Peter 1:23, and Hebrews 4:2, because the gospel only bears fruit when we meet it with belief. Finally, we follow the royal official as Jesus challenges sign-seeking and stretches him to rely on a promise without a visible miracle in front of his eyes. Faith Of Our Fathers

A delayed answer can feel like a denial, especially when your child is hurting and you’re out of options. On Father’s Day we lean into that tension by looking at the faith of two fathers in the Bible and the very human mix they both carry: urgency, hope, fear, and doubt. First we walk with Jairus in Mark 5 as he begs Jesus to heal his dying daughter. Jesus agrees to go and then stops along the way, and that pause becomes the pressure point. We talk about why trials test faith, how fear clouds our view of God’s power, and why Jesus doesn’t shame Jairus. Instead He gives a steady command for shaky hearts: “Do not be afraid, only believe.” We also trace the deeper comfort behind the miracle, the gospel perspective that Jesus can call death “sleep” because He has the authority to raise the dead. Then we jump to Mark 9 and an unnamed father whose faith is real but misplaced. After the disciples fail to help his demon-oppressed son, the father pleads, “If you can do anything,” and Jesus challenges the assumption behind the words. The result is one of the most honest prayers in Scripture: “I do believe; help my unbelief.” We close by learning from Abraham in Romans 4 how to strengthen faith by giving glory to God, and we anchor hope in Jesus’ promise of eternal life in John 5:24.
