The Blind Stigma podcast hosted by Dr. Natasha Williams and Ms. Stacy-Ann Buchanan gives a powerful platform for others to share and learn about Mental Health Awareness. Mental Health is not always easily detected or accepted, but is slowly destroying families and communities. These ladies do an excellent job of informing and engaging others who are in need of or already have received assistance.
In this episode, they engage Ms. Shelley Meche’tte, who shares with them of her battle with depression and anxiety. Her story is one of overcoming suicidal thoughts due to feeling as though she wasn’t good enough. Even to the point where she shared her thoughts and feelings with a friend, as if she were speaking of another woman. When her friend heard the issues, the solution was get away from that woman. This had a devastating effect on her, giving her a sense of hopelessness. To the point where she asked God to take her life. Wow, you never know how your words can effect those who are dealing with mental health. Glory to God, that Ms. Shelley continued to press on.
But God was just getting started with her purpose and while she couldn’t see it then, he had/has a plan for her, just as he does with Dr. Williams and Ms. Buchanan. God touched Ms. Meche’tte through her boss( a Christian) by making a joke that made her laugh and helped her see she had purpose. When we are in God’s Hands, he will always send people to help us through our tough times, if we seek and desire the help.
The promise in Ms. Shelley Meche’tte story and The Blind Stigma is they’ve overcome battles of mental health. And now they are able to speak of the warning signs, the reality and most importantly the victory.
I pray that this podcast finds someone who is need of healing and a victorious outcome. Dr. Natasha Williams and Ms. Buchanan continue to allow your wisdom and understanding to help reach others.
Be Blessed and Be A Blessing🙏🏼
