Fantastic!
A musical on Podcast? As a professional musician who regularly works long runs of broadway shows, you would be amazed at how many musicals I have performed 90 times yet have never actually "seen" performed due to the orchestra being in the pit or off stage. Sitting and listening to the same thing 8-9 times a week for months on end makes one uniquely qualified to be able to judge the quality of a show just by listening to it. You quickly realize that if any of the core aspects(writing, music, etc) are lacking, it doesn't matter what the set looks like, or what big name actors you have, things will get rather… monotonous.
That said, "MONOTONY: The Musical" has fantastic writing, compelling characters, and wonderful music that is beautifully sung by a talented cast. Thank you for this unique experience of a musical on podcast and I can't think of a better review as a theatre musician than to say "I wouldn’t mind hearing this show 8-9 times a week for months on end!” Bravo to all!
Witty, Hilarious, and Fun!
One episode in and loving this so much! A humorously compelling narrative interspersed with catchy songs that have an understated beauty. Can't wait to see where the characters evolve from here. My family will definitely be tuning in for episodes 2-7. What a perfect antidote to our current melancholy.
Perfect!
What a fabulous escape during this time of global monotony! Witty, charming, playful yet thought provoking all in one! Tackles so many societal issues in a masterful way. And the attention to detail is fabulous ! I mean, how genius to launch a musical about an accountant on Tax Day! Ha! Brilliant !!!
