    Who Was That Masked Man?

Some thoughts on the current state of the country, the trucking industry, radio, and those really annoying ads telling us how “uncertain” things are right now (as if we don’t already know that!). Skeeter’s back with a brand-new episode of “The Reluctant Trucker,” from the cab of his 2020 International LT big truck!

    Hashtag: Thank A Trucker!

Truck Drivers are experiencing a lot of love these days, as store shelves are being re-stocked and the world hunkers-down to stop the spread of COVID-19. Skeeter reviews some headlines from stories of interest to professional—and non-professional—drivers alike. Are trucks going faster these days? Yes, but it’s not because they’re “putting the pedal to the metal!” In years past, truck drivers had to find a pay phone (remember those?) for communication. Now, technology allows drivers to stay in touch instantly with loved ones, and their dispatcher. Plus, Skeeter introduces a new feature, and we are now available on one of the largest podcasting platforms in the world! It’s all in this episode of “The Reluctant Trucker!”

    All Aboard The Pineapple Express!

The COVID-19 (Corona) Virus has turned life upside-down and inside-out for just about everybody, and truck drivers are no exception! In this episode, your host Skeeter—while waiting for his truckload of fresh pineapples to be unloaded—offers some thoughts and opinions about how he is dealing with this health emergency situation. He also offers some tips and suggestions on how other professional drivers (and, really, everybody) can help to protect themselves and limit the spread of this and other nasty viruses that are lurking out there. A couple of listener comments about the premiere episode are also included. (A technical note from Skeeter: for this episode, I used a headset microphone that I use for hands-free phone calls on the road, thinking it might eliminate some of the background noise that was being picked up by my iPad’s built-in mic. The resulting audio is not ideal, but I didn’t realize that until the episode was finished. Please bear with the slightly “tinny” sound for this one, and I promise the next installment will sound better!)

  4. Season 1, Episode 1 Trailer

    When One Door Closes...

In this premiere episode, radio personality and musician Timothy “Skeeter” Goodrich explains how he coped with the realization that his broadcasting career had come to the “end of the road.” This unexpected change led him to explore other avenues...in this case, the interstates and highways of America, as he reluctantly became an over-the-road truck driver. In discovering his own ways of dealing with the changes he faced, he thought about the many others he has known who have also walked through other doors in their lives, either by choice or by chance. Future episodes will explore not only Skeeter’s adventures on the road, but also feature guests who will tell their stories about the major life and career changes they have gone through. If you would like to contact Skeeter with your story, or to suggest future topics or guests, you can email him at SkeeterOnTheRoad@gmail.com.
