Beyond “Wait and See”: Why Parents Should Trust Their Instincts

In this episode, I’m diving into a phrase many parents hear from professionals: “Let’s just wait and see.” While that advice can sound calm and reasonable, it can also leave parents feeling uneasy—especially when their instincts tell them something might not be right with their child. I share my own experiences as a parent who was told I was overreacting, and how ignoring that inner voice led to years of unanswered questions about my daughter’s health and sleep.   We explore why parental intuition is actually valuable data, how common childhood behaviors—like mouth breathing, restless sleep, or picky eating—may be signals rather than “phases,” and why awareness matters more than fear. I also talk about the powerful connection between breathing, sleep, the nervous system, and behavior, and how shifting from “wait and see” to “watch and notice” can help parents feel more grounded and empowered.   Check out The Mind Mouth Body SHIFT Method -- https://shereewertz.com/academy   Book a consultation today: I am always here to help answer any question and schedule a 15 minute call with me. The Tooth Fairy Isn’t Just a Myth—It’s a Missed Opportunity

Do you remember losing your first tooth? The excitement… or maybe the fear? In this episode, I’m inviting you to look at the tooth fairy in a completely different way—not as a cute childhood myth or a simple money exchange, but as a powerful opportunity to shape how our kids relate to their bodies, growth, and self-worth.   We’re talking about the hidden messages behind “you lost a tooth,” the transactional trap of cash-for-teeth, and how a small shift in language can plant seeds for lifelong health, confidence, and body awareness. This isn’t about canceling the tooth fairy—it’s about being intentional with the moment. Because sometimes the smallest traditions carry the biggest impact.   Before your child loses their next tooth, pause and ask yourself: What message do I want to send in this moment? Because it’s not just about the tooth—it’s about the story they’ll carry forward about their body and themselves.   If this episode made you think differently about a small but powerful parenting moment, I’d love for you to rate, follow, share, and leave a review of the podcast. It helps more parents join the Healthy Mouth Movement—and start creating intentional change, one tiny tooth at a time. 🦷✨   Check out The Mind Mouth Body SHIFT Method -- https://shereewertz.com/academy   Book a consultation today: I am always here to help answer any question and schedule a 15 minute call with me. A New Chapter: When Breathing Becomes Everything

In this deeply personal episode, I’m sharing what happens when breathing — something we usually take for granted — becomes your only focus. After more than five years of weekly episodes, I had to pause the podcast… not because I ran out of things to say, but because my body forced me to listen. What I experienced in the hospital shifted everything I thought I knew about productivity, self-sacrifice, motherhood, health, and what truly matters.   We’re talking about breath as more than a concept — as life itself. I open up about fluid pressing against my lungs, a cancer recurrence, nervous system regulation, and the clarity that comes when your body demands presence. This isn’t about fear. It’s about alignment. It’s about modeling regulation for our children, respecting our bodies, and redefining what leadership looks like inside our homes. If you’ve ever pushed through exhaustion, ignored your body’s whispers, or felt disconnected from yourself, this episode will speak straight to your heart.   Burst Oral Care – https://www.burstoralcare.com Use code healthymouth for a discount on toothbrushes, water flossers, oral probiotics, and more.   Check out The Mind Mouth Body SHIFT Method -- https://shereewertz.com/academy   Book a consultation today: I am always here to help answer any question and schedule a 15 minute call with me. What Every Parent Needs to Know About Oral Ties, Breathing, and Childhood Development

In this episode of The Healthy Mouth Movement Podcast, I sit down with Dr. Shereen Lim—dentist, sleep medicine expert, myofunctional therapist, and author of Breathe, Sleep, Thrive—to dive deep into what we’re learning about oral ties, airway development, and why early intervention matters so much for our kids. This conversation builds on our previous discussions, but we go even further into the often-overlooked areas of lip ties, cheek (buccal) ties, and how tension patterns in the mouth can shape facial growth, breathing, sleep, and overall health.   We talk honestly about what parents should be watching for, why “wait and see” can be risky, and how breathing, feeding, sleep, behavior, reflux, and even cavities are all connected. Dr. Lim also shares powerful clinical stories—from infants to adults—that highlight just how life-changing addressing oral dysfunction can be when we truly look at the whole body.   Resources Breathe, Sleep, Thrive by Dr. Shereen Lim Book website: breedsleepthrivebook.com Follow Dr. Shereen Lim on Instagram and Facebook for clinical insights and before-and-after case studies   Check out The Mind Mouth Body SHIFT Method -- https://shereewertz.com/academy   Book a consultation today: I am always here to help answer any question and schedule a 15 minute call with me.
