Brenda Haid: The Power of Story

Brenda is a teacher, daughter, sister, friend, dancer and musician. She has been a primary teacher for 16 years with most of that time spent in the Grade 2 classroom. Brenda has also recently graduated from the Imaginative Education program from Simon Fraser University. During this episode, Brenda and I talk about the importance of wonder for lifelong learning. Brenda also shares about different cognitive tools which are meant to engage students and make learning memorable. One example of a cognitive tool is looking for the story of a certain topic and realizing that there is usually much more going on than originally meets the eye. Brenda and I also discuss if there are any downsides to wonder. Although I am a huge proponent of wonder, I thought it would be wise to critically examine this topic. I truly hope that you enjoy this episode and come away with a greater understanding of wonder, awe and the power of story.

Tina Goetz: Experiencing Wonder Together

Rose Pillay: From Hurt to Healed

Rose Pillay has been an educator for 25 years! She spent the first 12 years of her career in a high school classroom teaching Science, Biology and Christian Ed. For the last 13 years, Rose has worked as an educational consultant where she serves, celebrates and supports Catholic educators in the Vancouver Archdiocese (K-12).
