Midlife Meltdowns, Making History & What Dolly Taught Us

MLB broadcaster Jenny Cavnar — a trailblazer who made history as the first woman to serve as a primary play-by-play voice for a Major League Baseball team — joins us as guest co-host this week, and we’ve got a LOT to discuss. Julie has a new cast, husbands continue to prove they are wired completely differently than women, and we commiserate about trying to parent, work and somehow “balance” it all. Then, Emily is having a bit of a midlife meltdown as she faces the reality of a Rangers-less life. What are we doing? Where are we going? And is everyone else questioning their entire existence at this age too?! In Sports Skorts, college football is BACK, we’re somehow getting sucked back into the Cowboys, and the NFL WAG content is already delivering. Jenny also gives us her perspective on the changing TV landscape in sports, what’s happening in the AL West and what it’s like continuing to blaze a trail for women in sports broadcasting. Then we meet 49ers wide DEceiver “Dajeon Love” (giant eye roll) before taking some time to remember Dolly Parton — not just for the incredible woman she was, but for what her life can teach us about kindness, confidence, business and staying true to yourself. And because this is still The Mom Game, we somehow end up at… The Fart Station. A little midlife crisis, a little inspiration, and a lot of nonsense. Just the way we like it. Prince Fielder! and the Queso Crow

It’s Prince!! Former Texas Ranger and MLB All-Star Prince Fielder joins The Mom Game, and we’re talking a whole lot more than baseball. But first — Julie is officially on the IL with a broken wrist, Emily is finding her thrill in cleaning, and somehow we have a Sports Skorts story involving a 49ers owner and a trailer park prostitute. Just a normal week around here! Plus, a Cowboys rookie has us feeling inspired, the Rangers remain aggressively middling, and CeeDee Lamb gets robbed. Then Prince Fielder joins the show! Prince tells us what life after baseball looks like (spoiler: there’s a surprising amount of tennis), what it’s like coaching kids when you played the game at the highest level, and how his perspective on parenting has changed over the years. We get into raising kids around baseball, parenting while traveling as a professional athlete, how youth sports have changed since Prince was coming up, and the advice he has for both kids who dream of playing baseball AND their parents. And since Emily and Prince go back to his Texas Rangers days, we obviously must revisit the clubhouse prank wars, a few embarrassing stories, and what Prince remembers most about his time in Texas. Baseball, parenting, tennis, broken wrists and trailer park prostitutes. A little something for everyone. Thank you as always to our amazing sponsors for making this week's show possible! Middle Aged and Out of F’s

Is the secret to surviving middle age simply surrounding yourself with people who don’t give an F? Because Julie and Emily may have cracked the code. This week on The Mom Game, we’re talking about why being middle aged kinda sucks, Emily has BEEF with Netflix profiles, Julie has an allergic eye situation, and Ryder has officially gone motorized. What could possibly go wrong?! In Sports Skorts, Von Miller is a Dallas Cowboy, the Mavs and Stars may have finally made up, and the Rangers have found themselves back in painfully familiar .500 territory. Plus — 7U ELITE TRAVEL BALL?! C’mon, man. The Youth Sports train is completely out of control and while it’s sadly normal- we still need to vent. We also take a more serious turn to reflect on the heartbreaking death of Hayden Panettiere at just 36 years old, her life and career, and why the news hit us so hard. And apparently some married couples swear that living in separate homes is the key to staying happily married. Are they onto something? Then Sarah Duggan, VP of Marketing at American Home Shield/Frontdoor Inc., joins us to talk about balancing a big career with mom life, what a home warranty actually does, and the moments when AHS can seriously save the day. Middle age, marriage, motherhood, sports, and broken appliances. Basically, we cover it all.   Thank you as always to our amazing sponsors for making this week's show possible!   Gateway GMC Coppola Wine AHS - get 20%* off Braintopia - 15% off brain map Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
