    World's Best Dead Beat Dad

Kramer opens with a conflicted take on parenthood after spending time at a Johns Hopkins Children’s Center event, where he felt more energized and fulfilled than he expected. From there, he and his mom have a funny, honest conversation about why he loves kids from a distance, why he doesn’t think he’s built for daily parenting, and what that means for dating and the future. Kramer shares how the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center event reminded him how much he loves working with the kids. He talks about meeting Charlie, a young founder of Charlie’s Courage Closet, and encourages listeners to help her raise money for special gowns for kids. He describes the tension between feeling drawn to kids and not wanting the work of raising one. He and his mom joke about the parenting routines he can’t imagine handling: swim practice, carpools, weekend sports, and after-school schedules. Kramer jokes that he’d be a great “deadbeat dad,” showing up occasionally and keeping the relationship low-maintenance. They compare kids to tigers and luxury cars—things he likes, but doesn’t want the upkeep for. Kramer explains why keeping the podcast fan-supported gives the show independence from advertisers and outside opinions. A listener milestone segment celebrates Anna’s family news, including her daughter’s wedding, another daughter turning 21, and Anna’s upcoming birthday. Mama Nancy asks whether “honey” is affectionate or condescending after two encounters. In the advice segment, they discuss whether a guest was justified in leaving a muddy outdoor wedding early.
