Route 66 sermon series: God's Plan of Redemption, Through the 66 books of the Bible "God's Comfort, in the Midst of our Suffering"  (summary of the OT book of Job)   1. Job's terrible, horrible, no good, and very bad day. (Job 1:1-5; 13-19)         2. God is in total control. (1:6-12; 2:1-8)       3. How to deal with disappointment and suffering. (1:20-22; 2:9-10; 13:15, 23; 16:19, 21; 19:25-26 “I know that my Redeemer lives…(when I die), I shall see God.” (Job 28:28) “Behold the fear of the Lord, is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.”       4. How to help those who are suffering. (2:11-13)   A. Be careful of the advice you listen to.  i. When have you received advice that was too simplistic,   unsympathetic, or just plain wrong?  ii. When have you received helpful advice that was difficult at first, but still truthful and grace-filled?   B. Ask God to help you discern His truth, and to help you better un derstand His character, through His Word.     5. We live in a sin-filled world, where suffering is inevitable. We may never fully know why our gracious, loving, Almighty God allows suffering. But maybe the purpose of our current suffering, is to draw us closer to Jesus & His protective, loving care.     ==> Take time to reflect what you need from God right now...His comfort, peace, guidance, strength, wisdom, protection, love, joy, forgiveness, more Christlikeness in your thoughts, words, actions, attitudes, character, etc. ==> Take time to reflect on how to best come alongside others who are suffering. (Be present, humble, prayerful, helpful & kind)   Support the show
