Living in Awe

Denny Mayer

I originally created this SoundCloud channel for the "Living In Awe" podcast series that I created with Denny Mayer back in 2020 (wow time flies). We do expect to do more podcasts but I am also using this channel to upload other music that I create. I am a musician and have written lots of tunes, but have yet to upload any of those songs. I will at some point. But recently I have discovered AI music production and will be uploading some of that as well. I create book trailers for authors and I use AI to create theme music for their books. The first one which you will find here is "When The Founders Came Home" for one of my authors. A song about some of the Founding Fathers coming back home 250 years later. Now more about the "Living in Awe" podcast series - Living in awe is a choice. Like being present or living in the proverbial "now." It's not only about the big things in life that create a sense of awe, but the small things as well. The everyday things, any moment when we are truly present in our lives. One can find awe in something as simple as a crack in the concrete as they can in a majestic sunset. As it has been said, "if you are not in awe, you are not paying attention." In this podcast series Denny Mayer interviews people from all walks of life, celebrities, world leaders, scientists, and your average "Joe or Doris Doakes," as they explore what it means to live in awe.

    This Never Happened

Theme song for the book "This Never Happened" by New York Times Best Selling Author Kent Heckenlively. LYRICS [Intro] Shh... Come closer History left a few pages out And honey I was one of them [Verse 1] Heidi had Chicago in the palm of her hand Pretty little empire with a dangerous brand High heels clicking down a city street Million-dollar smile and a criminal beat The boys all thought they knew what she sold But they never saw the mind behind the gold Because power walks soft when the perfume is sweet And the smartest girl in town don’t have to take a seat [Pre-Chorus] First you need the location Then you need the view Then you need the packaging And a story that feels true [Chorus] She didn’t come to bring him down She came to play the game They wanted dirt, they wanted names They wanted someone else to blame With a wink and a wire And a room with a view This never happened But you know it’s true She didn’t come to bring him down But down he came Ooh, down he came [Verse 2] Sonny had a smile like a silver spoon Kitchen towel in his hand, but he owned the room He said, “D.C. is calling, doll, don’t make me ask twice” When the mob gives you choices They’re never that nice So she packed up the silk and the champagne shine Brought Kitty, Tanya, Fannie right across the line Pretty girls laughing in a capital town While the men in dark suits wrote the whole thing down [Pre-Chorus] First you pour the drink Then you lock the door Then the mirror starts watching And they ask for more [Chorus] She didn’t come to bring him down She came to play the game They wanted dirt, they wanted names They wanted someone else to blame With a wink and a wire And a room with a view This never happened But you know it’s true She didn’t come to bring him down But down he came Ooh, down he came [Verse 3] Gottshalk smoked his pipe in a government room Eyes like a trap and a heart like a tomb He said, “Find me the secrets, find me the sin Help our man win, let the operation begin” So the cameras got hidden and the tapes rolled tight Behind bedroom walls in the middle of the night Every senator smiled, every congressman lied And every little secret found a place to hide [Bridge] Then came the flashlights Then came the door Then came the footsteps Across that office floor They hired her to help him They begged her to play But history has a habit Of looking the wrong way [Breakdown] Black marker Red stamp Classified truth One woman Four girls And the scandal of youth Don’t say her name Don’t open that file Don’t ask why the old girl Still knows how to smile [Final Chorus] She didn’t come to bring him down She came to play the game They wanted dirt, they wanted names They wanted someone else to blame With a wink and a wire And a room with a view This never happened But you know it’s true She didn’t come to bring him down But down he came Ooh, down he came [Outro] After fifty years Maybe now you know How a girl from Chicago Stole the whole damn show This never happened No, this never happened Tell the truth, honey Then deny it with style This never happened But you know it’s true Shh...

    When The Founders Came Home

Theme song for the book "Trump's Superpower" by Johanna Neuman. LYRICS Verse 1 They came down through the morning light, Past the clouds and chapel bells, To see the land they dreamed about And hear the stories time would tell. They walked beneath the marble halls, Where old words still remain, And wondered if the fire they lit Could ever burn again. Pre-Chorus They saw the flags, they saw the crowds, They heard the anger in the square. They saw a nation torn in two, Still asking if the dream was there. Chorus When the Founders came home, They found a country on its knees, Still reaching for the promise Of the brave and of the free. When the Founders came home, They saw the scars, they saw the flame, And whispered, “America, remember who you are, And rise again in freedom’s name.” Verse 2 Franklin saw the city lights, And whispered, “What a world you’ve made.” While Washington stood quiet there, Beneath the flag their hands had made. Jefferson faced the questions That history would not hide. Mercy spoke of liberty With courage at her side. Hamilton heard the thunder Of a new debate begin, And said the soul of this republic Must be fought for once again. Pre-Chorus 2 They did not come for statues, They did not come for praise. They came to ask the living What we’d done with all their days. Chorus When the Founders came home, They found a country on its knees, Still reaching for the promise Of the brave and of the free. When the Founders came home, They saw the scars, they saw the flame, And whispered, “America, remember who you are, And rise again in freedom’s name.” Bridge Freedom is not silent, It argues and it stands. It lives in every generation That still reaches out its hands. The past was never perfect, The work was never done. But the light inside the promise Can still shine for everyone. So hold the line with honor, Speak the truth with grace. A republic is a living thing We guard from age to age. Final Chorus When the Founders came home, They found the dream still breathing here, Beneath the noise, beneath the wounds, Beneath the doubt and fear. When the Founders came home, They saw a people still the same, Still born to chase the better angels, Still called by freedom’s name. So let the old bells ring, Let the stars and stripes still fly. America, remember, The dream was meant to rise. Outro Two hundred fifty years have passed, But the question still remains: Will we keep the sacred promise, And rise again in freedom’s name?
