Are You Willing to DIE BEHIND YOUR PURPOSE? feat. ALICIA HUFF (SZN 7: EP 32)

In Season 7, Episode 31 of No Label The Podcast, Nelson sits down with Buffalo model and activist ALICIA HUFF for a wide-ranging conversation about activism, purpose, influence, identity, and what it means to stand behind what you believe in. Alicia reflects on the evolution of her activism and how the murder of George Floyd became a defining moment in her commitment to fighting for change. She speaks candidly about reaching a point where she understands that standing behind her purpose can come with real consequences—and why she remains willing to put everything on the line for causes she genuinely believes in. Nelson and Alicia also discuss the different paths her life has taken, from pursuing a future in law to building a career as a model and eventually becoming a recognizable voice within Buffalo's activist community. She opens up about the pressure that comes with having a public platform, how she protects her peace while continuing to advocate for others, and what keeps her grounded when that responsibility becomes overwhelming. The conversation also tackles the complicated relationship between influencers, media, and social responsibility. Do people with large platforms have an obligation to speak on every social issue? When does staying silent become a statement of its own—and is it fair to expect public figures to constantly have an opinion on everything happening in the world? Alicia also discusses her involvement in efforts surrounding the development of data centers in New York State and the work that contributed to putting those plans on hold for a year, highlighting how activism can move beyond social media and translate into tangible action. And in true No Label fashion, things eventually go down the rabbit hole. Nelson and Alicia trade some of their favorite conspiracy theories, ranging from how the Egyptian pyramids were constructed and theories surrounding the origins of Black Americans to the infamous Avril Lavigne replacement conspiracy. From modeling and activism to media responsibility, political action, conspiracy theories, and the personal cost of standing on your beliefs, this episode is an open conversation about using your voice while figuring out how much of yourself you're willing to sacrifice in the process. Interview conducted by Nelson Clark. Presented by No Label The Podcast.
