    148. Ageing- Chapter Two: When Hope Changes Shape

What happens to hope as we grow older? Perhaps it does not disappear. Perhaps it simply changes shape. In this second chapter of  the Ageing series, I reflect on the way ageing changes our relationship with expectation, disappointment, grief, curiosity, and the future. When we are younger, so much of life seems to live just ahead of us — the next possibility, the next achievement, the next perfect moment. And then, somewhere along the way, we begin to see that life does not always arrive as we imagined or expected. Some hopes are fulfilled. Some change. Some fall away. And yet, something else begins to grow. A deeper appreciation of the ordinary.A greater tenderness for what is already here.A willingness to meet life as it comes. Perhaps ageing is not only about letting go. Perhaps it is also about learning to see differently. Not answers. Just some thoughts from where I am standing now. And perhaps, as you listen, you might wonder too: what has hope become for you? 147. Ageing - Chapter One: From Fear to Wonder

What if, instead of trying to avoid old age, we prepared ourselves to meet it? Just before turning 50, I made a conscious decision: I wanted to prepare for getting old. Not by trying to stay young, but by changing the way I saw ageing—and perhaps, eventually, the way I would live it. I began looking for another image of old age. Beyond fear, decline and all the adjectives we attach to the word old, I discovered another landscape: Mystery Wisdom Freedom Humour Acceptance Playfulness and a movement closer to the essence of who we are. This episode is the beginning of an unfolding series of reflections on ageing. Not a manual. Not a promise that preparation will determine how we age.Simply an invitation to look toward that gate rather than away from it. 146. Heart -Sight

We live in a culture that constantly asks: How much? How many? How quickly? How successful? Quantity can be seen and counted. Quality must be felt. In this episode of Souloist, I explore another way of seeing—heart-sight. A way of recognising what is true, meaningful and deeply alive, even when it is small, slow, quiet or unseen. What is ours to give? What is our soul purpose? And can we stop measuring our lives by the number of people we reach? The world does not need more copies of successful people. It needs more originals. Perhaps the question is not, “How much have I achieved?” but, “How deeply am I living?” You can also find Souloist – Life Between the Notes on FaceBook,Instagram ,YouTube,Linkedin Support the podcast If you enjoy Souloist and would like to support the podcast, you’re warmly invited to make a donation through PayPal: http://bit.ly/PayPal-Souloist Thank you for listening, for sharing, for being here, and for your generosity. ❤️

We call it procrastination. We blame ourselves for it. We promise that tomorrow will be different. But what if procrastination isn’t simply laziness,or something that needs to be defeated? 144. SOUL NOTES 🎵 - Words and Us

There are words we don’t like. Words we avoid saying out loud.Words we don’t want other people to use about us.Sometimes, words we don’t even want to admit to ourselves. Old. Loneliness. Death. Failure. Why do some words frighten us so much? Perhaps because behind the word is a feeling we are trying not to feel. But life is not made only of the words we like.It is light and dark. Joy and sorrow. Beginnings and endings. Connection and loneliness. And perhaps growing means learning not only how to celebrate the light, but also how to sit with the darker words without immediately running away from them. In this Soul Notes 🎵 of of Souloist, I explore what might happen if we begin to change our relationship with the words we fear. I think particularly about loneliness — and the possibility that sometimes loneliness is not simply the absence of other people, but a lack of communication with ourselves. What if, instead of trying constantly to become the person we were told we should be, we began listening more deeply to who we actually are? Not according to research. Not according to books. Not according to somebody else’s idea of the person we ought to become. But according to us. I also suggest a small experiment: Make a list of the words you tend to avoid. Choose one — perhaps not the most frightening one to begin with — and become curious about it. What does this word mean to you?Why does it have so much power? And could your relationship with it change? Perhaps when we befriend some of the words we have spent our lives running away from, the world — and our own lives — might begin to feel a little more friendly. And I would love to hear from you: What is the word you dread? 143. I Highly Recommend Getting Old

Old. O-L-D. Why are we so afraid of saying the word? In this episode of Souloist, I want to unwrap the idea of getting old — not as something we must pretend is wonderful, and certainly not as something we can completely control, but asanother part of this strange, difficult, funny and beautiful experience we call life. I share some of what ageing has taught me: to look for the small things that bring lightness; to know what is inside my own “toolbox” of joy; to laugh whenever laughter arrives; to sing when a word suddenly brings a song into my head; and perhaps most importantly, to allow life to come as it comes. Sadness belongs too. So does fear. So does grief. There is no light without darkness, and no joy without sadness. Growing older has not removed these things from my life. But perhaps it has taught me to stop fighting quite so much with what arrives at my door. And old age brings gifts of its own:caring less about what other people think, having more freedom to be yourself, discovering parts of yourself you didn’t know existed, walking more slowly, doing things at your own pace — and allowing yourself simply to be. So, my friends — young, old and somewhere in between — if you possibly can: I highly recommend getting old. And I’d love to know: what is your relationship with getting older? Do you celebrate it, fear it, resist it — or perhaps a little of all three? Stay connected with Souloist Follow or subscribe to Souloist wherever you listen to your podcasts, so we can meet again when the next episode is released. 142. The Cost of Being liked & The Freedom of Being Yourself

How much of your life has been shaped by the quiet hope that everyone will approve of you? In this episode of Souloist – Life Between the Notes, we explore one of the most human desires we all share: the longing to belong. But what happens when, little by little, we begin sacrificing our own voice, our truth, and our peace in exchange for acceptance? This is not a conversation about becoming selfish or uncaring. It is an invitation to discover the difference between kindness and people-pleasing, between belonging and pretending, between living for applause and living with authenticity. Together we'll reflect on courage, relationships, identity, and the gentle freedom that comes when we no longer need to earn our place in the world by becoming someone we're not. Perhaps the greatest freedom in life isn't reaching the point where everyone likes us. Perhaps it's reaching the point where we finally like the person we've become. I hope this conversation encourages you to come home to yourself. Thank you for listening.
