    God 540 – Dealing with the Dead Hi, I am Steve Jaynes, the Teacher and Author of the Class and Workbooks on "How to Read the Bible for Understanding and Power." This is The More Abundant Life Podcast, episode number 540– Dealing with the Dead In the Podcast below, you can follow along with the Scriptures and my notes as I read them. I am starting a new series from the workbook on "How to Read the Bible for Understanding and Power. Part Seven, The Comfort of God." I will rework and re-study the Scriptures on this subject. In this series, I will examine the accuracy of God's Word to better understand Jesus Christ's return. Who will meet Jesus in the air? What rewards will be given? We will study the resurrection of the just and the unjust. Plus the rewards that will be given to those who faithfully stand in the here and now. We will see the order of events in the ending times, starting with today's lesson, where we will look at " The Gathering Together," where we are to Comfort one another with these words. While teaching the Audio class, How to Read the Bible for Understanding and Power, I tried to cover the foundational subjects and truths a Bible student needs to know to understand the Scriptures accurately, to live victoriously, and to walk in great power.  Later, I put together a series of Biblical Studies workbooks that include all the Scriptures from the class, along with my notes, written to help you follow the different subjects and truths. The workbooks are "How the Bible Interprets Itself" and "The Law of Believing and How to Defeat Fear." Another workbook covers "The First Three Chapters of Genesis," including creation, the adversary, the war in heaven, the body, soul, and Spirit, the fall of mankind, and the promise of the redeeming seed. Followed by another workbook that deals with "The Mission of Jesus Christ." Another workbook covers "Perfect Praise, Prayer, and Worship. Another workbook in the series focuses on "Manifesting the Power of the Holy Spirit." Another is "The Comfort of God. Finally, one covers how "You Can Run a Fellowship." Everybody in the world has to learn how to deal with the dead. We all have sorrow, emotional heartbreaks, and sometimes many questions. But believers in Jesus Christ have the hope of Jesus Christ's return. All those who are born again, who have the holy hpirit within them, will all be raised to be with our Lord and Savior in the air forever, and we are to comfort one another with these words. 2 Corinthians 1:1 "Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia:" 2 Corinthians 1:2 & 3 "Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;" 2 Corinthians 1:4 "Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." Acts 1:8 – 11 " But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. 9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." 2 Thessalonians 2:1 "Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him," 1 Thessalonians 4:13 "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope." Psalm 13:3 "Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; Psalm 6:5 "For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?" 1 Thessalonians 4:13 – 17 "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." 1 Thessalonians 4:18 "Wherefore comfort one another with these words." 1 Corinthians 15:51 – 58 " Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." 1 Thessalonians 4:18 "Wherefore comfort one another with these words." Romans 8:18 – 25 " For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. 20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, 21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. 24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it." 1 Thessalonians 5:1 – 11 "But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do." Romans 5:9 "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."     539 – My Gospel

    God 539 – My Gospel Follow along with the Scriptures and my notes as I read them. This podcast expands on a series I just posted on my website about "Paul of the Bible." It is a 13-session series on Paul's ministry and a review of his writings. This weekly podcast reinforces that and adds a bit more information. Romans 1:9 "For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;" Romans 2:16 "In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel." 1 Corinthians 9:17 & 18 "For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me. 18 What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, [Over Charge] that I abuse not my power in the gospel." 1 Corinthians 9:9 – 11 "For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? 10 Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. 11 If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?" Ephesians 6:18 – 20 "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. The mystery is of Paul's Gospel. Philippians 1:7 "Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace." Philippians 4:3 "And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life." 1 Timothy 1:11 & 12 "According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. 12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;" 2 Timothy 2:8 "Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:" 2 Peter 3:13 _ 16 "Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom [Revelation] given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, [twist around] as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction."     God 538 – Prayer Makes A Big Difference You can follow along with the Scriptures and my notes as I read them. Acts 11:22 – 30 "Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch. 23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord. 24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord. 25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul: 26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. 27 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch. 28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar. 29 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea: 30 Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul." Acts 12:1 "Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church." Starting in chapter 12, the subject changes from Paul and Barnabas in Antioch to Peter. It's like the subject changes, as if it's in another part of town or happening meanwhile. Acts 12:2 - 25" And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. 3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) 4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. 6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. 7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. 8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. 9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. 10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. 11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews. 12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying. 13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda. 14 And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate. 15 And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel. 16 But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished. 17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place. 18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter. 19 And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judaea to Caesarea, and there abode. 20 And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king's country. 21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. 22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. 23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. 24 But the word of God grew and multiplied. 25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark." The narration now turns back to Paul and Barnabas. But we can see that prayer makes a big difference. 1 Timothy 2:1 – 4 "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." God wants everyone to be saved and to gain accurate knowledge of God's Word. We should share God's goals. 1 Peter 3:8 & 9 "Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful [tenderhearted], be courteous [humble minded]: 9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing." Verses 10-12 also appear in Psalms 34:12-16. Let's read Psalms first. Psalm 34:12 – 16 "What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. 14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. 16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth." 1 Peter 3:10 – 12 "For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: 11 Let him eschew [turn away from] evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue [pursue] it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. 2 Peter 3:13 - 16 "Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction."     God 537 – It Is Written You can follow along with the Scriptures and my notes as I read them. The writers of The Word of God, The Bible, wrote God's Word over a period of time, over 1,500 years. All types of people wrote God's Word. Let's look at how we got that wonderful Word of God. Let's see what God has delivered to us through these many writers of the Scriptures. 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" Doctrine is Right teaching for right believing. You know and understand the Scriptures. Then you'll know how to live victoriously and abundantly. Galatians 1:11 & 12 "But I certify [Guarantee you] you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ." Paul got the information from God by Revelation about Jesus Christ and all that he accomplished for us, written in the Church Epistles.  2 Peter 3:15 & 16 "And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction." Paul got information from God that gave him wisdom. To help in our lives, without that wisdom, understanding it, and living it will bring destruction. Luke 1:1 – 4 "Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, 2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; 3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, 4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed." That we may know the certainty and believe in all the accomplished works of Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:20 & 21 "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." The Holy Ghost is The Holy Spirit. God wants you to know. Wouldn't it be great if we could get a letter from God so we could know Him and what he wants for us? God did. Hebrews 3:7 "Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice," This is God again, and he's saying, " Today, you could hear from me if you would just pick up the book and read it. Psalm 95:7 "For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice," It is God's good pleasure to give you a more abundant life and the ability to live each and every day victoriously Jeremiah 36:1 – 4 "And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 2 Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day. 3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin. 4 Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD, which he had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book." Psalm 12:6 "The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times." Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Psalm 119:162 "I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil." Jeremiah 15:16 "Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts." Jeremiah 2:13 "For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water." Hosea 4:6a "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:" Matthew 4:3 & 4 "And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." 2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." All of God's Word needs to be rightly understood, accurately understood to whom it's written, where it's written, and why it's written. We can learn how to study God's Word and live the more Abundant Life. But it's up to you.     536 – P.S. I Love You

    God 536 – P.S. I Love You You can follow along with the Scriptures and my notes as I read them. At the beginning of Romans, Paul writes to the Romans and lets them know that he loves them. He desires to see them, desires to help them, desires to give them spiritual gifts, and wants to be a service to them. He's really demonstrating that he loves them Romans 1:7 – 21 "To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. 8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. 9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; 10 Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you. 11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; 12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. 13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles. 14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. 15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." Romans 12:1 – 6 " I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind [thinkin], that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;" The topic here is renewing your mind. [your things] You're thinking about how to work with other believers in the body of Christ. All according to our portion of believing. Let's read First Corinthians. A bit more on the subject of the one body and ways of service. 1 Corinthians 12:27 – 31 "Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. 28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way." The more excellent way is chapter 13. The way of love. Romans 12:7 – 21 "Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; 8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. 9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; 13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. 14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. 15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. 16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. 17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 13:1 "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God." Some people teach that the higher powers are talking about the government. That cannot be true. God doesn't ordain governmental leaders.  Two things to think about. One, after World War II, Stalin, the head of the USSR, issued a proclamation that he wanted all Christians and Jews to be killed in Russia. A bunch of Believers from England knew about this and prayed for the situation. And Stalin died unexpectedly, and the next leaders were not as excited about killing the Jews and the Christians. God intervened. Two, in Russia today, they persecute jews. Christians and every other religion. The same thing is true in China and every other Communist country. In our country today, the only thing the news talks about is the difference between socialism and capitalism. They never talk about their main objectives. All communist countries hate all religions except the Communist state. Romans 13:2 – 5 "Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation [Judgment]. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. 5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake." My definition of conscience is your preconceived thinking based on previous experience, learning, teaching, and belief. 2 Corinthians 10:1 – 8 "Now I Paul myself beseech [loving inplore] you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold [humble] toward you: 2 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold [confident] when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold [confident] against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war [work] after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons [tools] of our warfare [work] are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought [thinking reasoning] to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience [wrong habits], when your obedience is fulfilled. 7 Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's. 8 For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:" Wrong habits, wrong thought processes that are against what the word of God says about you and others. Disobedience and the confession and thinking about what the world says about you are disobedience. Obedience is thinking what The Word says. With that, you can be a blessing to yourself and others. Romans 8:4 – 17 "That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh [flesh and carnal, mean the same thing], but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind [think] the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit [think] the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally [flesh and carnal, mean the same thing] minded [thinking] is death; but to be spiritually minded [thinking] is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind [thinking] is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh [thinking] cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you [your thinking]. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together." Romans 3:20 – 26 "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus." Romans 4:1- 11 "What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? 2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. 3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. 9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. 10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. 11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:" These verses got me thinking about thinking and thoughts. Thinking is more active and concrete than a passive thought. We have to challenge every thought. Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Titus 1:9 "Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers." This is what the workshop that I am doing this summer is all about. I would like for us to work this together. I would like us to think about what we know from the word and help each other as we discuss and talk about the teachings together. (The information is available on my website.     534 – Believing Versus Worry, Doubt, and Fear

    God 534 – Believing Versus Worry, Doubt, and Fear You can follow along with the Scriptures and my notes as I read them. I've been thinking about believing versus worrying, doubting, and fearing. We know how important it is for us to believe and trust God, but one thing that tries to destroy that is fear. We're going to learn how to defeat fear. Mark 11:22 "And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God." A simple translation is to believe and trust God. Mark 11:23 & 24 "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." We trust God in our hearts. The opposite of that is to have worry, doubt, and fear. We can worry, doubt in fear, and believe it in our hearts. The innermost part of our mind. Romans 10:8 – 10 "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Both believing and trusting God are in our hearts, as well as worrying, doubting, and fearing. We need to understand what God says about fear and get rid of it. Get it out of our minds, and trust God. Believing is a law, and the law is something that happens every time, like the law of gravity. It works every time. On the negative side, fear is believing, but in reverse. It gets you ill results. Fear is the Believer's only enemy. Fear is sand in the machinery of life. Fear stops you from being the person you would really like to be, and it all happens in your mind. Proverbs 29:25 "The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe." Fear is a snare, a trap. Trusting in God is believing in God. Isaiah 8:12 "Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid." Watch out that you do not join yourself to anyone else's fear. You want to get rid of fear, and with God and His words, you can. Jeremiah 49:24 "Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail." Someone who is waxed feeble is because of fear. Fear stops you from moving ahead. Job 3:25 "For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me." Fear is believing in reverse. What Job was afraid of became part of his life. We don't want to do that. That's why I'm teaching you how to defeat fear. Now, let's get better at dealing with fear. Let's get rid of fear from our lives. Here's how. Psalm 34:4 "I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." Seek God, learn about God, and believe and trust God, and He will deliver you from all your fears. 2 Timothy 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." Worry, doubt, and fears can be defeated. Using three positive things, by saying three positive things, to beat fear, or any negative thing that comes across your mind. Like Power, Love, and a sound mind. Looking at the records about David and Goliath, you can learn how to defeat fear. Follow along as I read the records and explain some of the details. 1 Samuel 17:10 & 11 "And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together. 11 When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid." 1 Samuel 17:23 – 37 "And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them. 24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid. 25 And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel. 26 And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God? 27 And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him. 28 And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab's anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle. 29 And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause? 30 And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner. 31 And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him. 32 And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine. 33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth. 34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: 35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. 36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. 37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee." Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
