Ep. 106 - Batman (1943)

The Kapeesh crew are back! (Well, some of them). That's right, we are back for our new film reviews project. You guessed it (or you read the title)- we are tackling the Batman franchise. And, to do it correctly, we started with the very first Batman serial film released in cinemas during the Second World War. So, that brings some interesting discussion about how Batman was used as a propaganda piece for the Americans against the Japanese, in amongst our thoughts on how it's dated from a cinematic perspective. Join us as we delve into the performances of the very first big screen version of the Caped Crusader, the writing, music, action scenes and a barmy plot which involves ray guns and zombies. Enjoy!

Ep. 105 - The Something of Michael Myers

In this final podcast of 2022, the crew reconvene to discuss recent film viewings of the month of October (yes, edited over four months late). In the (now not so new) films section, Scott hunts down and slashes the Halloween franchise with particular focus on Halloween Ends, Gordon and Steve B share their thoughts on the provocative Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde, and Steve also discusses The Sound of 007 on Amazon Prime. In the TV section, we delve deep into the Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon, Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 3 finale, Man Vs Bee, Doctor Who Season 13, Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and the BBC documentary Russia 1985-1999: Trauma Zone. And, if that wasn't enough, our Look Back section covers the rest of the Halloween series, The Final Destination, What We Do In The Shadows, The Italian Job, Orange County and Muriel's Wedding. Ep. 104 - The Terminator

In this Deja-Revu episode, the Kapeesh crew are stuck in a time paradox which somehow involves discussing the (proper) James Cameron film debut in spoilerific detail - for eternity. So, if you have a few endless life cycles on you, give it a listen as we discuss the merits of one of cinema's classics. We go into our feelings on Schwarzenegger's star-making turn as the titular baddie, Linda Hamilton's brilliant performance as the soldier-in-making Sarah Connor and, of course, Michael Biehn's intense portrayal of Kyle Reese. We also delve into plot, writing, Brad Fidel's inconic score and a whole load on the very logistics of the time travel storyline. Not to mention where it may have dated (ahem, stop-motion effects). Ep. 103 - Brosnan Vs I.T.

In this stupendously epic podcast, we reconvene to discuss our film and TV viewings from the month of September 2022 (yes, slight delay in editing). We cover Idris Elba's latest Beast, Taika Waititi's much derided Thor: Love and Thunder and we try to remember details from Liam Neeson's assassin thriller Memory. In the TV section, we delve deep into the latest Star Wars series Andor, the Lord of the Rings prequel series The Rings of Power, Game of Thrones' prequel series House of the Dragon, Star Trek: Lower Decks, The Boys Season 1 and 2 recap, Borat: American Lockdown (episode 1 only), Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, as well as documentaries Golden Era and the first episode of My Life as a Rolling Stone. Ep. 102 - Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery

Yeah, BABY, YEAH! Do we make you horny? How about randy? In fact, don't answer that. In this very shagadelic episode, we rewatch Mike Myers' Bond parody released in 1997 and directed by Jay Roach. After a middling cinema run, the film would become a home video sensation and would propel the character and franchise into box office gold(member), with two sequels over the subsequent five years. In this very groovy recap, we discuss the film's merit with particular focus on characters, style of humour, music and its effective parody of the Bond franchise. We also delve deep into where the film has aged with particular focus on moments that would likely be omitted in 2022. Because that IS our bag, baby. The Kapeesh crew assemble their best historians, archeologists and swashbuckling rogues for this epic podcast covering director Steven Spielberg's third outing for the lovable adventurer. Ep. 99 - Miss Woody Loveyear

In this (of course) epic podcast, the crew reconvene to discuss all things film related over the month of July. We begin by paying tribute to the film industry veterans who sadly passed away over the month such as the legendary James Caan (The Godfather, Misery, Elf), Tony Sirico (The Sopranos), the original James Bond composer Monty Norman as well as Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas). We then take time to review the most recent films released such as the Toy Story prequel Lightyear, Jurassic World: Dominion, Thor: Love and Thunder, Elvis and The Grey Man.
