Think Team - 100 Year Celebration Series

Your customer never sees your departments. They feel your handoffs. When something slips, they don’t blame a chart or a process owner they blame the company, because to them it’s one experience from first call to final invoice. We’re continuing our 100-year celebration at Electrical Equipment Company by unpacking one of our most practical cultural beliefs: Think Team. We define it plainly: we put the needs of the team first because we’re one company. That doesn’t mean individual performance stops mattering. It means individual excellence reaches its highest value when it strengthens the whole chain, from sales to operations, engineering, purchasing, logistics, finance, and every specialist in between. We get specific about how silos form, why “that’s not my job” quietly damages the customer experience, and how teams can replace departmental scorekeeping with shared ownership of outcomes. We also talk about humility and expertise, using a simple sports analogy: the best players know when to lead and when to pass the ball. And when pressure hits late shipments, moved-up deadlines, unexpected shutdowns the real culture shows up in one question: “Whose problem is this?” or “How can I help?” If you care about teamwork culture, breaking down silos, cross-functional collaboration, and delivering a consistent customer experience in industrial manufacturing and services, you’ll get a lot from this conversation. Subscribe, share it with a teammate, and leave a rating or review so more people can find the show. Keep Asking Why... Value Everyone - 100 Year Celebration Series

The fastest way to weaken performance is to treat culture like a poster and people like parts. We dig into one of Electrical Equipment Company’s defining cultural beliefs, “Value Everyone,” and why it is the difference between a team that merely ships products and a team that earns long-term trust in industrial manufacturing and electrical equipment distribution. We talk about the unseen work that makes or breaks the customer experience: the warehouse getting details right, operations coordinating handoffs, accounting preventing friction with clean invoices, and IT keeping systems stable so everyone can do their job. A great technical solution does not matter much if the wrong item ships or communication drops the ball, so valuing every role is not “nice to have.” It is a practical operating system for reliability, quality, and customer loyalty. We also get real about what valuing people looks like when life gets hard. Supporting teammates through loss, overload, and unexpected challenges builds the kind of trust you cannot manufacture with programs alone. And we clear up a common confusion: valuing everyone does not mean avoiding tough conversations. Healthy cultures pair accountability with appreciation, and leaders set the tone through the small signals people always notice. If you want a stronger manufacturing culture, better teamwork across departments, and more consistent customer outcomes, queue this up and share it with your leadership team. Subscribe, leave a rating and review, and send this to someone who keeps things running behind the scenes. Keep Asking Why... It's Mine - 100 Year Celebration Series

“It’s mine” sounds simple, but it’s one of the hardest cultural beliefs to live out when things break at 2 a.m. We dig into the ownership mindset that separates teams who pass problems around from teams who step in, stay engaged, and protect the outcome customers actually care about. For anyone working in industrial manufacturing, maintenance, plant operations, procurement, or an electrical distributor environment, this is the kind of leadership behavior that shows up when the situation is inconvenient and the clock is ticking. We talk through what personal ownership really means: seeing a gap and choosing not to assume someone else will handle it, even when it stretches beyond a job description. You’ll hear real-world examples of closing handoff gaps, supporting customers under pressure, and doing more than providing a component by bringing the right resources together. We also draw a bright line between acting fast and acting recklessly, because ownership includes sound judgment, escalation when needed, and communication that reduces stress for plant managers, engineers, and buyers. The second half of the belief is the question that turns accountability into a habit: “What else can I do?” We connect that question to technical learning, understanding customer operations, and preventing repeat issues through better processes, documentation, and teamwork. After 100 years of serving customers, the message holds: trust is earned through consistency and follow-through, and it’s a competitive advantage in a world of complex systems and shrinking technical resources. If this resonates, subscribe, share the show with someone in manufacturing, and leave a rating and review so more people can find it. What’s one place you can replace “that’s not my job” with “it’s mine” today? Keep Asking Why... Straight Talk - 100 Year Celebration Series

We celebrate a 100-year milestone by digging into our cultural belief of straight talk and why honest, timely feedback is rare but powerful. We share how asking for feedback fuels growth, how care changes the way feedback lands, and why truth builds lasting trust with customers.  • straight talk as a daily habit instead of a special event  • why most people avoid hard conversations and what it costs  • asking for feedback versus seeking affirmation  • growth mindset benefits of inviting feedback and finding blind spots  • feedback as an investment when it is rooted in care  • a mentor story that shows how direct coaching drives improvement  • why customers value honesty more than a perfect answer  • challenging assumptions respectfully to prevent mistakes and improve outcomes  • trust built through disagreement without fear and alignment around a shared goal  We encourage you to forward the podcast over to someone that that that you that would value these some of these things that we've covered here, maybe that can spark a conversation about hey, how can we start incorporating this into our business?  Keep Asking Why... Delight Customers - 100 Year Celebration Series

Downtime does not care who your vendor is, but your recovery time absolutely does. We sit down with Bruce Burton, an electrical reliability engineer at Trinity Manufacturing in North Carolina, to hear a candid customer story about modernization, trust, and what it takes to keep a chemical plant running when the stakes are high. Bruce walks us through major electrical upgrades including motor control centers, transformer planning, and the kind of engineering decisions that make future expansions and retrofits less painful. We also get specific about support in the real world: troubleshooting variable frequency drives, getting parts turned around fast, and building a virtual inventory system with barcodes and routine counts so critical spares are there before a failure hits. Then we go deep on smart motor control centers and industrial data. Bruce explains how Ethernet/IP and Modbus connectivity unlock three-phase visibility, historical trending, faster root cause analysis, and more confident decisions during faults. We also talk power quality monitoring, harmonic distortion, and how custom communications drivers can pull useful data from a mixed fleet of devices without disrupting an operating plant. If you care about plant reliability, industrial automation, and practical digital transformation, this conversation is packed with field-tested insight. Subscribe, share this with someone in manufacturing, and leave a rating and review so more reliability-focused teams can find the show. Keep Asking Why... Achieve Results - 100 Year Celebration Series

Results don’t fail because people don’t care, they fail because ownership gets blurry and teams move fast in different directions. As we celebrate 100 years at Electrical Equipment Company, we’re slowing down to share the cultural beliefs that have helped us stay strong in industrial manufacturing and electrical distribution and the first one is simple to say and hard to live: achieve results. We define achieve results as personal responsibility for company outcomes and the discipline to align our daily activities to those outcomes. That means eliminating the “that’s not my job” mindset, stepping up to serve where we can, and treating accountability as a daily habit. We also talk about why alignment has to come before execution. Speed without alignment creates wasted effort, rework, and frustration, and it only takes a little misalignment to push a whole team off course. From there, we get practical about execution under pressure: precision, compliance, documentation, and process discipline when the margin for error is slim. We connect those habits to the customer experience, where the goal is to move beyond a transaction and deliver long-term value across the full lifecycle of a project. The real takeaway is that strong results come from small intentional actions repeated over time, creating predictable outcomes, stronger partnerships, and sustainable growth. Keep Asking Why... From Insights To Impact

Most plants already have more data than they know what to do with. The hard part is turning that operational data into clear decisions that prevent downtime, boost reliability, and make the work on the floor feel less like constant firefighting. We close out our manufacturing deep dive by getting brutally practical about “insights to impact” and why data-driven manufacturing only counts when it changes what we do next. We talk through how modern intelligent devices shift maintenance from guesswork to evidence. Smart overload relays and connected diagnostics can capture trip snapshots, fault history, and operating status so teams can stop debating symptoms and start fixing root causes. We share a real example where repeated nuisance trips on a grinder motor looked like motor degradation until diagnostics showed the equipment was being overfed, creating unnecessary stress and premature failures. That’s the kind of insight that saves real money because planned downtime beats unplanned downtime every time. From there, we zoom out to the first steps that actually work: start with critical assets, add intelligent sensing (current, vibration, temperature, power monitoring), and make the data visible through dashboards or mobile access so it doesn’t live in a silo. We also dig into the human side of industrial automation and predictive analytics: how digital tools reduce clipboard work, raise job satisfaction, preserve institutional knowledge as veterans retire, and help attract a new generation that expects intuitive interfaces. If you want a clear path to predictive maintenance, smarter troubleshooting, and better plant decisions, hit play, then subscribe, share the show with a colleague, and leave a review so more manufacturing teams can find it.
