This is a podcast of advocates speaking to other advocates about the work we do. We will be addressing the myths and facts surrounding domestic violence and sexual assault, the legal system, trauma, and safety planning, and so much more. The goal is to share valuable information and empower. My name is Karolina Strain and I am the host and creator of this podcast. I am a Child & Youth Advocate at the Avalon Center in Tennessee. I will be interviewing colleagues, as well as special guests that are leading professionals in their fields.

    Accountability

Lisa Dillard and Walt Pierce are facilitators at the Avalon Center for the Abuse Intervention for Men program and the Break the Cycle program.  Walt and Lisa educate listeners on how they work with perpetrators of violence to stop the cycle of violence. Kari is the Executive Director of Alternatives to Violence located in Loveland, CO that provides shelter and many other services to domestic violence victims. We wanted to collaborate to share a message of hope & unity. Across the country, agencies like ours are working together to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in unconventional ways.  During this COVID lockdown, Domestic violence agencies like ATV and the Avalon Center have had to adapt overnight in how we provide services with social distancing in place and safety planning in a time when most victims are confined to there home with their abuser there 24/7.
