Jolly Good Bollywood: Members Only

We are two friends raised on (and arguably, by) Bollywood. After a decade of talking about doing this--first in classrooms and tea shops, and then, separated by continents, over video calls--we're finally starting to put together our constant conversations about Bollywood into the form of a weekly podcast, "Jolly Good Bollywood--Members Only." N.B.: We owe the first part of our name to Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (Dir. Karan Johar, 2016) and the second part from Fight Club--Members Only (Dir. Vikram Chopra, 2006), which should tell you more about us than anything else.

    We are back this week in a longish episode on a subject that is not quite "jolly good" but which we have really wanted to speak about and shed light upon: the portrayal of stalking and harassment in Bollywood films through the ages, and the dangerous narrative they create in reel and real lives. As always, we have tried to map a history of the depiction of stalking on-screen, and have tried to discuss the repercussions these have in terms of normalizing such behavior.
