    Understanding Easter

When you think about Easter, what is the first thing you think of? Is it the women who were there, the faith of the disciples, or the richly layered way that Jesus showed up? When we celebrate Easter every year, it can be easy to forget all the things that are revealed to us through the story of Jesus’ resurrection and all the ways that this story matters to us every day. Join hosts, Elisa Morgan, Eryn Eddy Adkins, and Vivian Mabuni as they dive deep into Mark 15-16 to gain fresh perspective of the events of Easter.     Notes and Quotes:   “Easter is every day.” —Elisa Morgan    “If we look at what Barabas symbolizes, he’s all of us.” —Elisa Morgan    “He rose for all of us, and He rose for each one of us. He turns to each of us in our fear and trembling and says, ‘Woman, what do you need? I am here. I am risen.’” —Elisa Morgan    “He chooses women because He understood that women were faithful to Him and He wanted to honor their faith.” —Vivian Mabuni    “God calls us forward to new life. He died on a cross for all of our sins.” —Elisa Morgan    “Even in this moment, we can have the kind of life that is rich and meaningful and powerful and we don’t need to be afraid. He lives it with us. And praise God—Jesus Christ is risen!” —Elisa Morgan    Verses:   Mark 15  Mark 16   Romans 5:8  1 Peter 3:18  Luke 8:1-3 Mark 16:15    Related Episodes:   GHH Ep 34 – The Women of Easter: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/the-women-of-easter/ GHH Ep 153 – Hopeful End: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/hopeful-end/ GHH Ep 184 – Waiting for Easter with Jessica Herberger: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/waiting-for-easter/   Links:   God Hears Her website: https://go.odb.org/ghh191  A Joyful Easter: 40 Morning and Evening Devotions from God Hears Her https://ourdailybreadpublishing.org//god-hears-her-a-joyful-easter.html A Joyful Easter: 7 Easter Devotions from God Hears Her https://www.odbm.org/en/reading-plans/a-joyful-easter/a-joyful-easter Subscribe to the God Hears Her YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@GodHearsHerODBMGHH Episode 217 Bible Study PDF: https://xvetrm.files.cmp.optimizely.com/download/assets/GHH+Podcast_EP217.pdf/994b1e882c5511f181666ed115eea297

Steph lives in Minnesota with her husband and three amazing and hilarious kids.     Show Summary: Parenting and mentoring children comes with countless decisions—but how do you know when to say yes, when to say no, and how to hold loving boundaries that truly matter? Steph Thurling discovered the power of healthy boundaries through a difficult postpartum season and the ever-changing phases of motherhood. In this God Hears Her conversation, Elisa Morgan sits down with Steph to explore what it looks like to set wise, grace-filled boundaries, raise children who love Jesus, and keep the long view in mind through every season of parenting.    Notes and Quotes:   “You learn that you have to say no to things and that some things might be good for another family, but they might not be good for you.” —Steph Thurling    “I learned that He will see me through it and that nothing is permanent. There are seasons for everything. There are seasons that will be easy and there will be seasons that will be hard, but no matter what, He is walking through it with us and will hold our hand and will light our path. We can rely on Him for provision.” —Steph Thurling    “There is good community out there. God puts people in your life to get you through.” —Steph Thurling    “My ultimate goal in my parenting is that my kids will know, love, follow, and share Jesus. That’s the best thing we could want for our kids. So, it’s really important that while we focus on the good things for our kids, we keep the best thing in mind.” —Steph Thurling    “He is writing their story and I’m not. We have to trust Him with that even if it might look hard for a while.” —Steph Thurling  Verses:     Related Episodes:   GHH Ep 89 – Parenting in a Toxic Culture with Dr. Meg Meeker: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/parenting-in-a-toxic-culture/ GHH Ep 133 – Helping Your Children Know Jesus with Sara Cowan Johnson: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/helping-your-children-know-jesus/ GHH Ep 182 – Raising Teens with Amy Betters-Midtvedt: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/raising-teens/   Links:   The Christian Parenting Website: https://www.christianparenting.org/ God Hears Her website: https://go.odb.org/ghh191  Subscribe to the God Hears Her YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@GodHearsHerODBM Episode 215 Bible Study PDF: https://xvetrm.files.cmp.optimizely.com/download/assets/GHH+Podcast_EP215_Proof+2.pdf/e108db7cf60c11f08ab3028702ece562

God is unshakable. He is our solid foundation. Even when the world wipes us out, when relationships wipe us out, God is our firm foundation.” —Trisha Davis    “We were so concerned with building the church, we forgot to build into each other and build into who we were.” —Justin Davis    “There is a journey that we have to allow people to go on. On that journey, eventually you see your prism of pain as how God shows up so much brighter—in different arrays of color that we couldn’t see with our rose-colored glasses.” —Trisha Davis    Verses:   Hebrews 12:5-11    Related Episodes:   GHH Ep 40 – Out of the Dust: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/out-of-the-dust/ GHH Ep 145 – Sitting on the Sidelines with Bethany Toney: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/sitting-on-the-sidelines/ GHH Ep 168 – Walking Through Infidelity with Jami Nato: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/walking-through-infidelity/   Links:   The Davis’s Website: https://justinandtrisha.com/ God Hears Her website: https://go.odb.org/ghh191  Subscribe to the God Hears Her YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@GodHearsHerODBM

    JAN 12

    Fruitful Living (Eryna & Elisa)

Show Summary: Which fruit of the Spirit do you struggle with? As we work to be more Christlike, we often struggle with different Spirit-produced characteristics in different seasons of life. In this special God Hears Her conversation hosted by Eryn Eddy Adkins, Elisa Morgan invites us to consider the fruit of the Spirit and how we can grow in these qualities of character to reflect Jesus in everything we do.      Notes and Quotes:   “Most of us, no matter what our age, we want to grow a life that matters. We want to leave a legacy of character.” —Elisa Morgan    “It’s not up to us to grow the fruit [of the Spirit]. It’s up to God to grow the fruit, but we have the opportunity to cooperate with Him as the fruit producer; the orchard keeper in our lives.” —Elisa Morgan    “God’s fruit of the Spirit is His characteristics evident in our personalities.
