EP 136 - Qatar and Red Bull Breaking News

Pack your sunscreen, your sand goggles, and your patience for terrible opinions — The Monkey Seat is back for Episode 136! This week, Tom and Karl dive into the Qatar Grand Prix, a race hotter than the tyres, tempers, and Tom’s laptop when he has too many tabs open. Expect sweaty drama, slippery strategies, and more deleted lap times than Karl has excuses for being late. BUT WAIT — just as they hit record, BREAKING NEWS dropped like a Red Bull junior driver:Red Bull announced their 2026 driver lineup.Did it make sense? No.Did the boys handle it professionally? Absolutely not. Cue instant reactions, wild speculation, and the kind of live meltdown you only get when F1 silly season barges into the podcast uninvited. They didn't do driver and dick of the day awards because well... they forgot. It’s everything you expect from The Monkey Seat: off-topic tangents, questionable takes, unexpected news, and two hosts who are legally banned from being considered “serious analysts.” If you want proper journalism, go to Grid Talk. If you want chaos with air-con, you’re in the right garage. Catch the more “professional” versions of Tom and Karl on the Grid Talk Podcast @gridtalkuk across all socials. Check out f1chronicle.com for articles written by adults, and hit linktr.ee/gridtalkuk for the full Grid Talk universe. Find The Monkey Seat on Spotify, Apple Music, Pocket Casts, YouTube, Anchor, Castbox, Radio Public, TuneIn, Breaker — or just whisper “breaking news” into a microphone and we’ll appear, panicking.

EP 135 - Not Las Vegas

Sound the alarm and hide the microphones — it’s a special edition of The Monkey Seat! For only the second time ever, Tom and Karl are in the same room… and, miraculously, the world hasn’t imploded (yet). To make things even more unpredictable, Karl’s son Killian joins the chaos — proving once and for all that bad opinions might just be hereditary. This isn’t your usual race review — no tyre talk, no lap times, no analysis (not that there ever is). Instead, the lads are blowing up the F1 driver market and rebuilding it their way. The only rule? No one stays where they are. Expect questionable swaps, outrageous justifications, and enough driver reshuffling to make silly season look sensible. It’s an episode full of laughter, bickering, and family-friendly anarchy — three voices, zero structure, and absolutely no chance of agreement. Basically, the most Monkey Seat thing ever. If you want serious motorsport discussion, go find Grid Talk. But if you want three generations of chaos theory disguised as a podcast, you’ve come to the right grid box. Catch Tom and Karl pretending to act like professionals on the Grid Talk Podcast @gridtalkuk on all socials. For proper motorsport journalism, head to f1chronicle.com, and for more Grid Talk goodness, hit linktr.ee/gridtalkuk. Listen to The Monkey Seat on Spotify, Apple Music, Pocket Casts, YouTube, Anchor, Castbox, Radio Public, TuneIn, Breaker — or just open a window, shout “contract chaos!” and we’ll appear, spreadsheets in hand.

    EP 132 - Spa

Brace yourself for some soggy shenanigans – The Monkey Seat is back, broadcasting straight from the metaphorical pit lane of poor life choices! This week, Tom and Karl tackle the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, where the weather is as unpredictable as Karl’s connection to reality, and the race strategies made about as much sense as Tom’s fantasy team. Was it wet? Was it dry? Was it worth staying awake for? Who knows – but the boys have opinions on it, and they definitely don't line up!They’re slinging out their Driver of the Day awards with all the grace of a Sauber pit stop on a budget airline, and someone definitely gets slapped with the Dick of the Day title – a time-honoured tradition that’s just as prestigious as it sounds (which is to say… not at all).Expect off-topic tangents, and an accidental deep dive into Spa’s many mishaps – both literal and metaphorical. As always, it’s less "analytical insight" and more "two guys bickering in surround sound."Looking for actual F1 journalism? Head over to Grid Talk. But if you want bad predictions, bold opinions, and banter with more corners than a Carsten Tilke street track, you’re in the right place. For the “slightly more serious” versions of these two, catch them on the Grid Talk Podcast @gridtalkuk on all your favourite socials.Check out f1chronicle.com for motorsport articles written by people who use punctuation, and hit linktr.ee/gridtalkuk for the full Grid Talk experience.Find The Monkey Seat on Spotify, Apple Music, Pocket Casts, YouTube, Anchor, Castbox, Radio Public, TuneIn, Breaker — or just scream into the Ardennes mist and we’ll find you.

    EP 131 - Britain

Strap in and crack open a lukewarm can of supermarket own-brand cola, because The Monkey Seat is back — just in time for the British Grand Prix! Tom and Karl return to their mics (and questionable opinions) after accidentally ghosting the Austrian Grand Prix. Was it scheduling? Was it laziness? Was it because Karl got lost in a multi-storey car park? We may never know. But they’re back now, and ready to pretend they never left. In this episode, the lads dive into all the Silverstone shenanigans — home heroes, hydraulic heartbreaks, and more Union Jacks than a Coronation street party. They hand out their now-famous Driver of the Day awards (no one agrees, as usual), and crown the ultimate Dick of the Day – a prestigious honour for the biggest muppet on the grid. Or possibly in the commentary box. It’s banter over breakdowns, nonsense over nuance, and the kind of chaotic race recap that makes Sky F1’s coverage look like a TED Talk. Live reactions, fan interactions, and more detours than a British road trip – if it’s serious F1 you’re after, Grid Talk exists. If you want vibes and very little journalistic integrity, you’ve found the right pit lane. Catch the guys trying to act professional over on Grid Talk @gridtalkuk across all socials. For actual motorsport coverage, head to f1chronicle.com, and for more slightly better-prepared F1 chat, visit linktr.ee/gridtalkuk. Listen to The Monkey Seat on Spotify, Apple Music, Pocket Casts, YouTube, Anchor, Castbox, Radio Public, TuneIn, Breaker… or just yell into a traffic cone and hope for the best.

    EP 130 - Spain

Buckle up for another sun-soaked siesta of chaos on The Monkey Seat with Tom and Karl – the dynamic duo who still know absolutely nothing about F1 strategy, but plenty about winding each other up. This time, they’re fresh off the Spanish Grand Prix, where tyre strategy was confusing, overtakes were rare, and Karl’s internet dropped more often than Red Bulls pit strategy. They’re dishing out their Driver of the Day picks, and of course, naming the all-important Dick of the Day – because someone always deserves it, and no, it’s not always Max. Expect wild takes, laughably poor predictions, and enough off-topic tangents to make a team principal cry. They were live on YouTube interacting with fans in real-time and, as usual, forgetting to actually watch large chunks of it. Professionalism? Never heard of her. If you're after real insight, go listen to Grid Talk. But if you're here for accidental comedy, light-hearted F1 chaos, and two mates who treat race analysis like a pub quiz they forgot to revise for – The Monkey Seat has your back. Want to hear them pretend to be grown-ups? Catch them on the Grid Talk Podcast @gridtalkuk on all socials. For actual motorsport journalism, head to f1chronicle.com, and for more Grid Talk, hit up linktr.ee/gridtalkuk. Find The Monkey Seat wherever you get your podcasts – Spotify, Apple Music, Pocket Casts, YouTube, Anchor, Castbox, Radio Public, TuneIn, Breaker – basically, if it plays sound, we’re on it.
