    British GP 2026 Review Leclerc Wins, Max Breaks & Safety Car Shenanigans – Monkey Seat S7E140

    A comedy Formula 1 podcast reviewing the 2026 British Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc’s Silverstone win, Ferrari’s front-running form, Verstappen’s rear wing disaster, safety car controversy, and the latest Max Verstappen to McLaren rumours. Season 7 of The Monkey Seat continues, and for once George Russell didn’t actually win... yet Tom and Karl have bravely decided to podcast anyway. Don’t worry though, the system hasn’t completely broken. Russell finished second, just 0.427 seconds behind Charles Leclerc, and given the safety car chaos, FIA confusion, and general Silverstone silliness, we’re choosing to declare him the spiritual winner. The George Russell Podcast Activation System survives on a technicality. This week, the boys review the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, where Leclerc took victory for Ferrari, Russell pushed him all the way, and Lewis Hamilton made it two Ferraris on the podium. Ferrari being good at Silverstone? Mercedes nearly winning? Red Bull breaking? Somehow, Formula 1 has become fan fiction. There was also a sprint race win for Kimi Antonelli, who continues to look annoyingly talented, before his main race went rather less smoothly. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen’s race ended with what looked suspiciously like the same rear wing failure from Austria qualifying, because apparently Red Bull have decided reliability is optional if it keeps things spicy. And then came the safety car finish. Following the rule changes after the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix controversy, the race ended under safety car conditions. Simple enough, right? Obviously not. The FIA somehow managed to tell everyone the race was going to restart, triggering widespread confusion, paddock debate, fan arguments, and enough terrible rule-change suggestions to fill a Facebook comments section. Tom and Karl also dive into the latest Max Verstappen to McLaren rumours, because no F1 podcast is complete without wildly speculating about a move that may or may not exist. Add in random UK geography, a few truly dreadful dad jokes, and the fact it was hotter than the devil’s armpit with Tom becoming increasingly moist, and you’ve got a classic Monkey Seat episode.     Austrian GP 2026 Review | Russell Finally Wins & Lindblad Says "Nah" – Monkey Seat S7E139

    After another completely unplanned three-month sabbatical, Season 7 of The Monkey Seat returns. Funnily enough, George Russell wins and we're back recording. We're not saying there's a conspiracy... but we've never podcasted after a Sergio Perez win. This week, the boys review the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix, where George Russell finally gets Mercedes back on the top step. But was he actually the quickest Silver Arrow? With Kimi Antonelli looking rapid all weekend, the future at Mercedes might already be knocking on the garage door. Elsewhere, Ferrari once again mastered qualifying... before apparently forgetting the race was on, while Red Bull looked properly competitive again, giving the front of the field a very different look from recent rounds. The discussion also turns to the TV coverage, with an abundance of cinematic drone shots making the race look more like an Oscar-winning nature documentary than a Formula 1 broadcast. And speaking of ignoring directions, Arvid Lindblad decides team orders are more of a suggestion than a rule, giving the lads plenty to chew over.     Tom and Karl are back for the United States Grand Prix, bringing you their unique brand of chaotic commentary from the land where everything’s bigger — including the egos, the portion sizes, and the track limits. In true Austin fashion, the weekend had it all: cowboy hats, confused strategy calls, and more deleted laps than Karl has brain cells left after the afterparty. The lads hand out their Driver of the Day awards (expect at least one based on vibes alone) and, of course, crown the Dick of the Day, because someone always deserves to wear the Stetson of shame. It’s the usual mix of banter over brains, with more tangents than turns at COTA and enough off-topic chatter to make Crofty short-circuit. Was the race good? Who cares — the podcast definitely isn’t.     Tom and Karl tackle the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, a race that once again proved the streets of Baku are as brutal as Karl’s hangovers and as unpredictable as Tom’s WiFi. Safety cars, carbon fibre confetti, and more crashes than a Windows 95 PC – and somehow, it still wasn’t the weirdest weekend they’ve covered. The lads hand out their Driver of the Day awards (one probably makes sense, the other probably doesn’t) and crown the inevitable Dick of the Day – because on the streets of Baku, someone always earns it. Expect wild tangents, bold-but-terrible predictions, and more questionable takes than a Red Bull PR statement. As usual, it’s less “analysis” and more “two blokes in verbal bumper cars.” If you actually want serious F1 coverage, go listen to Grid Talk. But if you’re here for bad jokes, chaos, and laughter echoing down the long Baku straight, you’ve found your pit stop.
