    Episode71_Tomb of the Lizard King

In this episode we discuss what is largely considered one of the great "sleeper adventures" from the classic era of AD&D, "I2: Tomb of the Lizard King." While not much fanfare surrounds this module, most who have played or run it would tell you it is always good for several nights of exciting play. And any module about a "vamperic lizard overlord who's come back from the dead to drink the blood of his conqueror's descendants" is perfectly fit for this Halloween season! Its writer, the great Mark Acres, gives us a bit of insight into its creation, we have a letter from a listener, some talk about Gamehole, and an invitation to play Edwin's "Dungeon Survivor" game (just email thisoldungeon@gmail.com). Though we are ready for a Geek Credit quiz, Bill had to ditch early so, alas, we will be waiting another month! Keep those letters coming-we sure appreciate your listenership!

Episode 70: Masks of Nyarlathotep: Kenya

Yet again we prove anything is possible with the power of procrastination! Here in the last days of the month we pulled off an 11th hour recording. Bill was out due to family concerns, but Ed and Lou take up the slack with another episode reflecting on one of the greatest Call of Cthulhu adventures ever written, Masks of Nyarlathotep. In this episode we cover the Kenya chapter of that module. Edwin reveals an incredible GM tool to power through narrative elements of an adventure and Lou tries to remember what convention he was just at… (it was “Fractured Realms” https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.fracturedrealms.org/home&ved=2ahUKEwiwlt286JKXAxVkpCsGHdhoCVYQFnoECCQQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0nYZ51ooRD60zCy-4xe3Lf ). Oh and (among other brain blocks) the other writer for Dark Sun (with Timothy Brown) was Troy Denning… (https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/strange-owl-games/dragon-kings/pre-launch). And the gorilla booth folks were Big Boy Game Time!

Episode 69 2nd Edition AD&D wiith Zeb Cook

We have had such a fortunate run of getting killer guest hosts on this program, and this episode is not a departure! We have none-other-than, David "Zeb" Cook! We could have talked about a million different products, because Zeb has been so prolific in the industry, but we had to pick just one. It can't be denied that one of the most prolific products he was involved in was Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition! So on this episode we get the chance to hear about its development and kick around our thoughts on how it changed the game and role-playing as a whole. We get to some listener mail concerning last month's "Forest Oracle" episode and promise to get to those Geek Credit questions in September!  I hope you enjoy this recording just as much as we did!

Episode 68 N2 The Forest Oracle

Often sited as being the WORST of TSR pre-published modules, The Forest Oracle lands front and center on the This Ol' Dungeon door step. Bill claims it was Lou's choice while Lou explains it was meant as a threat! We had no mail this month and are still looking for another multiple choice question to have our next Geek Credit segment... Send questions and comments to thisoldungeon@gmail.com and your quiz questions to thisoldungeonquiz@gmail.com. Thanks for listening! Episode 67 C1 The Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan and Eldritch Wastelands

Join us for a discussion about one of the most delightful adventures we've ran across to date! We discuss C1: The Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan along with some discussion about the addition of superfluous monsters in a core book, the completeness of Mutant Crawl Classics, and convention talk. Hang around after hours and get a inside look at Matt Gullett of Long Con Press's newest release a Southern-Fried, Hixploitation, Modern Gothic Apocalypse called Eldritch Wastelands! Back it on Kickstarter.

One Shot Episode 29 NTX with Jeff Jones

This is a rough listen, unless you like the persistent rumble of the open road! But, if you can deal with some less than fantastic audio, you can join in with my conversation with Jeff Jones of RPG Ramblings as we come back from North Texas RPG Con and discuss what it means to run a booth at a convention as a small publisher.

Episode 66 Jayson Elliot and Boot Hill

This is the episode Luau Lou's computer didn't want you to hear! Yes, after 5 attempts at editing it into an MP3, it finally gave up, and you get this hot bit of broadcasting! In this episode Bill and Lou sit down with Jayson Elliot, creator of Gygax Magazine and Top Secret New World Order. He talks all about his gaming past, the different projects he's been involved with and how some of them went down and his new baby, ModCon  a TTRPG con dedicated to games set in a "modern" timeline. We have a fun letter to respond to (asking us about our craziest D&D game) and cover the original 1975 Boot Hill booklet rules for our "This Ol' Dungeon" segment. Thanks to questions by Mark Wolf and John Williams we get to play a round of Geek Credit with our guest host and prove just what we know (or rather DON"T) about prog rock music, Warhammer, and D&D! Tune in, it's a fun one!

  8. May 1

    Episode 65 PC2 Top Ballista

The gang makes a "buzzer shot" to get this episode in the can before the end of the month. We talk about "ages" of collecting thanks to listener mail. We look at the "play as the monsters" D&D supplement: PC2 Top Ballista, and there is a return of the Geek Credit segment! Remember to send your listener feedback to thisoldungeon@gmail.com and your multiple choice questions with answers to thisoldungeonquiz@gmail.com. Thanks for listening!
