Job Interview Tips For Candidates And Hiring Managers

Send us Fan Mail Most interview advice is either painfully generic or weirdly performative. I wanted something you can actually use, whether you’re walking into a job interview as a candidate or sitting on the other side of the table as the hiring manager. So we break it down like a real process: how to prepare, how to communicate clearly, and how to make decisions you won’t regret three months later. If you’re interviewing for a job, we talk about doing quick but meaningful company research, getting clear on why you want the role beyond a paycheck, and practicing the questions you know are coming. You’ll hear how to speak to your strengths without rambling, how to answer “areas of growth” with honest self-awareness (without the fake “I work too hard” answer), and how to handle the practical details that quietly influence outcomes like showing up early, dressing with intention, and setting up your virtual interview lighting and link ahead of time. We also get real about advocating for your needs, including pay range, scheduling, leadership style, and the kind of support you need to thrive. If you’re hiring, we shift to what great interviewers do differently: build trust early, show up fully present, define what you’re actually looking for before you ask questions, and use body language as information without forgetting context. We also talk about noticing your biases before they drive the decision, and why building a team works best when you treat it like a puzzle where different strengths belong on purpose. Finally, we share why asking about someone’s goals outside of work can help you hire better and lead better. Attention Audit

Send us Fan Mail Your life is already telling you what matters most and it’s doing it through your attention. If you’ve been feeling scattered, stuck, or quietly judging yourself for where you are, I’m sharing a simple mindfulness-based reset that brings you back to clarity fast. I walk through two concise questions I use as a life coach to help clients build real self-awareness without spiraling: What are you giving your attention to? And what are you making it mean about you? We look at how your calendar can reveal your true priorities, and how your mental “background tabs” can be just as loud as your schedule. Work, kids, relationships, divorce, a career change, fitness, mental health, friendships, building a business, all of it comes with a story, and that story shapes your mindset more than the circumstance itself. Then we get practical about mindset management: beliefs are thoughts you repeat, and those repeated sentences quietly drive your confidence, your choices, and your definition of success. Sometimes you’re even pursuing something positive while a limiting belief underneath is beating you up. I’ll show you how to notice that pattern with awareness without judgment, and how to rewrite the meaning so it actually supports spiritual alignment and authentic action. If you don’t like what you find, we keep it simple with one next best step. Job Search Clarity

Send us Fan Mail Job searching can feel like a maze of titles, salary guesses, and “what if it’s worse than what I have now?” We slow that whole spiral down and rebuild your career change from the inside out. This week, I’m sharing the practical mindset shifts and simple job search tips I use with clients who feel stuck between staying put, switching companies, or even choosing between entrepreneurship and full-time work. We start with the part most people skip: getting painfully clear on why you’re leaving. “Bad boss” and “I’m not having fun” are real, but they’re not actionable until you define them. From there, we map your skills and separate what you can do from what you actually want to monetize, so you stop chasing roles that drain you. Then I share one of my favorite strategies: search words, not job titles. The language in job postings tells you more about culture and fit than a generic title ever will, and it can open up options you didn’t know existed. We also zoom out to lifestyle design: hours, commute, remote work, and what matters outside your job. If the perfect role isn’t available yet, we talk about choosing the next best stepping-stone job that moves you closer while keeping your confidence intact. And yes, we touch money in a grounded way: know your baseline budget, price the lifestyle you want, and build a salary target with purpose. These Seven Questions Help You Hear Yourself Again

Send us Fan Mail What if the fastest way to feel more clear, calm, and confident isn’t another productivity hack, but a few brutally honest questions on paper? This week, I’m sharing a set of journal prompts you can use to check in with your mind, your heart, and the stories running your life. We start with a big one: if you could blow up your life and start over with no consequences, what would you keep? From there, we move into identity and authenticity. I’ll walk you through prompts to describe your real personality (not the masked version), name what you’re already good at, and notice what you do when you procrastinate. Those patterns can be a window into what you need, what you’re craving, and what you’ve been ignoring, without turning it into self-judgment. Then we go deeper with definitions. What does it mean to be organized, successful, loved, wealthy, or abundant, according to you? Many of us unknowingly live by definitions we inherited from family or culture, and that can keep us chasing approval instead of building a life that fits. We close with a vulnerable question that opens doors fast: what are you hoping for? If you want journaling prompts for self awareness, mindset shifts, and authentic goal setting, this one is for you. If you want a safe space to do this kind of growth work, come join us for the next round of The Art of Magnetism.  ENJOY THE PODCAST? Leave us a 5-star review so more people can find us! What Are You Affirming?

Send us Fan Mail Your feelings are telling on your thoughts. If you’ve been doing “all the right things” on your health journey or personal growth path but still feel funky inside, it might be because of what you’re affirming without realizing it. This week, I’m asking one question that cuts through the noise: what are you confirming about yourself on repeat? We start with a simple check-in you can do any morning, then we zoom out to the mindset basics that actually change your life: your thoughts shape your feelings, your feelings drive your actions, and your actions create your results. I share a list of common affirmations that sound positive and the ones that feel a little itchy, and I walk you through how to notice them with mindfulness and zero shame. From there, we take it deeper with anxiety. “I’m anxious” can be true and still not serve you when you say it all day. I explain how your brain’s reticular activating system looks for evidence of what you repeat, and how that can amplify stress. We practice choosing a new target for your focus, like calm, organized, or even proud, so your identity starts working for you instead of against you. Get What You Want (Six Steps)

Send us Fan Mail If you’ve ever been asked “What do you want?” and your mind goes blank, you’re not alone, and it’s usually not because you’re clueless. It’s often because you’ve trained yourself to believe you can’t have what you want, so naming it feels risky. We slow that moment down and show you how to rebuild desire, clarity, and trust in yourself without turning your current life into a problem. We share our six-step framework for getting what you want, built from mindset coaching, spiritual alignment, and practical action. We start with honesty and move into real clarity: defining what “a loving marriage,” “a better job,” “confidence,” or “more money” actually means for you. We also connect the dots to neuroscience and the reticular activating system, because specificity changes what you notice, what you tolerate, and how you discern what is for you. From there we talk openness, faith, and the part most people skip: showing up like it’s already done while still taking steps that make it possible. Then we tackle limiting beliefs head-on, including the “crab effect” that pulls you back right when you start gaining momentum, and how to rewrite those thoughts so you can keep moving. If this helped, subscribe, share it with someone you love, and leave a five-star review so more people can find the show.  Check in: What’s the one thing you’re ready to be honest about wanting today? The Choice to Rejoice (Part Two): Why Joy Matters

Send us Fan Mail Complaining can feel like relief in the moment, but it comes with a hidden cost: it trains your brain to look for what’s wrong and makes it harder to create solutions. After coming back from a weekend conference high (and a little sleep-deprived), we slow down and get honest about what really gets in the way of joy, especially when you’re in a hard season, dealing with stress, or feeling stuck. We walk through the “choice to rejoice” as a real-life gratitude practice, not a fluffy slogan. I talk about how your environment shapes your default thoughts, why workplace or friend-group negativity can pull you into the complaining loop, and how giving yourself grace is part of changing the pattern. Then we get concrete: what does joy look like in your life right now, and where are you already experiencing it even if your brain wants to skip past it? We also dig into the neuroscience of gratitude and mindset management. Gratitude can support the decision-making part of your brain (your prefrontal cortex), calm stress reactivity (your amygdala), and boost feel-good chemistry like dopamine and serotonin. From there, we build a menu of simple, sustainable habits: journaling, writing thank you notes, doing a weekly “what went well” review, pausing with your morning coffee, giving thanks before meals, and even saying “thank you” when you pay a bill because you have the ability to cover it. If you want more joy, momentum, and emotional steadiness, pick one practice and try it this week.  Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs a mindset reset, and leave a five-star review if it helps you. The Choice to Rejoice (Part One): Thank-You Cards

Send us Fan Mail Complaining can feel like “just venting,” but what if it’s quietly training your brain to look for problems, not possibilities? We get honest about the 50-50 nature of being human and why chasing constant happiness backfires. Instead, we practice mindfulness as awareness without judgment, using a simple metaphor: life as a party where emotions are offered, and you get to decide what you pick up and what you pass on. Then we dig into the neuroscience and psychology of complaining and gratitude. I talk through how chronic complaining ramps up stress and can shrink your capacity for creative thinking, problem solving, and emotional regulation. We also cover the social side: how listening to long vent sessions can affect you, and how to set kind boundaries so you can be a safe space without burning out or building resentment. From there, we flip the script with “the choice to rejoice,” a practical gratitude practice that goes beyond listing what’s good. We explore research on thank you letters, why recipients feel more warmth than we expect, and how consistent gratitude practice can support mental health over time. Your growth work is simple and powerful: write a thank you letter to your future self, plus journal prompts to identify what you’ve been complaining about and where compassion would change everything.  If this helps, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave a five-star review so more people can find this work.
