#012 Success is never a straight line: overcoming failure

We have all experienced failures – they are simply part of life. Yet we’d rather not talk about, let alone appreciate them. But when we fully embrace the fact that failures are a vehicle to growth and transformation, we understand that they aren’t something we should be scared of or hold us back. Ultimately, all of our failures will lead us to what we’re meant to achieve in our lifetime. In this episode, Tanja and Kat talk about their own experiences and failures, how they learned how to overcome setbacks and always stand up again during their years working with start-ups. This episode is not to be missed! Key takeaways: - Making mistakes is fine as long as you don’t repeat them. Learn from it and turn mistakes into successes the next time around - Success is never a straight line – in fact it’s a wild ride! You have ups and downs all the time and should embrace this as a complete normality - Failures are essentially the Universe redirecting you to what you’re actually supposed to do - You should allow yourself to be sad if you’ve just failed at something. But you must see it as a temporary state of mind and emotion and don’t identify yourself with it (you, yourself, are not a failure!) 2. #011 Why labelling yourself as “successful” won’t get you anywhere

#011 Why labelling yourself as “successful” won’t get you anywhere

Most people like to think in labels to better relate to each other and justify their own actions and behavioural patterns through being ‘this’ or ‘that’. However, striving to achieve one label after the other without any deeper meaning can easily distract from your true purpose and WHY. In this episode we talk about how you can free yourself from mentally labelling yourself as the role you play at work, at home, or somewhere else and start focusing on what is really important in life and what makes you YOU (hint – you’re not a label). Key takeaways: - Going after labels just because that is ‘what you do’ will not make you happy in the long run. Rather, you should focus on exploring what makes you YOU - Don’t get confused by your ego constantly asking for validation in the form of labels. Recognise it for what it is, then start shifting your response to it - Focus on what type of EXPERIENCES you want to create, rather than what title you want to achieve next If you enjoyed this episode, please do leave us a review on Apple Podcasts: http://bit.ly/insync_apple WANT TO CHAT? #008 Adopting a growth mindset and acting upon it

When you don’t succeed at something, do you tell yourself “not yet” or ”it’s just not for me”? If you are listening to this podcast, you will most likely fall into the first category and understand the concept of the growth mindset. But do you also act accordingly? Although the concept of growth mindsets has – thanks to Carol S. Dweck - seen great momentum and understanding especially within the millennial generation, many still struggle to put the concept into practice. In this episode we discuss ways to change old habits that no longer serve you. The top 3 strategies you’ll hear about (amongst others): #1: Focus on continuous personal improvement #2: Find an accountability network #3: Improve your self-awareness For everyone who has not read the book (yet), we highly recommend to order a copy of Mindset: New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck. She defines people with a growth mindset as students that believe that their abilities and intelligence can be developed with effort, learning, and enough persistence. People with a fixed mindset, on the other hand, believe that learning abilities, intelligence, and talents are fixed traits. #007 Do what you are meant to do NOW, not later

So often we think that we have to tick all the boxes on the career’s checklist, gain experiences, develop specific skills and spend a particular period of time experiencing unpleasant states or difficult situations before we are ready to pursue our actual dreams. Being successful in life and business is tough, they say. But here’s a little secret: it doesn’t have to be that way. The key lies in overcoming socially constructed beliefs and redefining what a “good career” and “success” looks like and start aligning our inner and outer worlds the minute we enter the workforce. As we free ourselves from made-up social constructs, we realise that we already have what it takes to become truly successful. Things we talk about in this episode: - Why you do NOT need to tick a checklist first before you can step into your full power - Why you are ready TODAY and not in 10 years - Strategies you can use to overcome seeking validation on your life’s choices If you enjoyed this episode, please do leave us a review on Apple Podcasts: http://bit.ly/insync_apple WANT TO CHAT?
