    പുഴപോലൊരു തുടക്കം

    ഞാൻ ജനിച്ചു വളർന്നതു തെക്കൻ കേരളത്തിലെ ഒരു ഗ്രാമത്തിലാണ്. വയലും, തോടും, കുളവും, അമ്പലവും, കാവും, മലയും, ഒക്കെ ആയി ഒരു കാർഷിക ഗ്രാമം. കിഴക്കൻ മലകളുടെയും, വനത്തിന്റെയും സാമീപ്യമുള്ള ഭൂപ്രദേശം. വർഷങ്ങൾ വളരെ ആയെങ്കിലും, പട്ടണത്തിൽ പോയി പഠിച്ചുവെങ്കിലും, കഴിഞ്ഞ കുറെ സംവത്സരങ്ങളായി ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്കു പുറത്തുള്ള മഹാനഗരത്തിൽ ജീവിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കിലും, ഞാൻ മനസ്സുകൊണ്ട് പലപ്പോഴും ഒളിച്ചോടുന്നത് ഈ ഗ്രാമജീവിതത്തിലേക്കാണ്. അവിടത്തെ കാറ്റിനും, മഴയ്ക്കും, കരിയില കൂട്ടി തീകാഞ്ഞ മകരപ്പുലരികൾക്കും, ശബ്ദ-ഗന്ധങ്ങൾക്കും എന്നെ ഏറെ നേരം അവിടെ തളച്ചിടാൻ കഴിയും. എന്റെ ബാല്യ കൗമാരങ്ങളിൽ ഞാൻ നോക്കിയിരുന്ന കാഴ്ചകളും, കേട്ടിരുന്ന വർത്തമാനങ്ങളും ഒക്കെ ഇന്നു ഓർമ്മയിൽ തങ്ങിനിൽക്കുന്ന കഥകളാണ്. എനിക്കു ചുറ്റും എത്രയോ കൗതുകമുള്ള സംഭവങ്ങളാണു നടക്കുന്നത്. കുറെയൊക്കെ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പങ്കുവയ്ക്കാം. എന്റെ വീട്ടിലും, ബന്ധുക്കളുടെയും നാട്ടുകാരുടെയും ഇടയിൽ ഞാൻ പൈങ്കിളിയാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് എന്റെ കഥകളെ പൈങ്കിളിക്കഥകൾ എന്ന് വിളിക്കാൻ ഞാൻ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നത്.
