    Living a Life of Generosity

What does your generosity reveal about where your heart is? In “Living a Life of Generosity,” Pastor Bill Shuler challenges us to see generosity as more than simply giving money. It is a way of life rooted in understanding that everything we have ultimately belongs to God and that we are called to be faithful stewards of what He has entrusted to us. Jesus reminds us that where our treasure is, our heart will be also. Pastor Bill encourages us to invest not only in what is temporary, but in what has eternal significance—using what God has given us to advance His Kingdom, bless others, and impact lives for generations to come. 📖 Scriptures: Matthew 6:19–21 | Psalm 24:1 | Deuteronomy 8:17–18 | 2 Corinthians 9:7–8 📖 Message Highlights: • Generosity as a lifestyle, not simply an occasional act • Recognizing God as the owner and ourselves as stewards • Where our treasure is, our heart will be also • Investing in eternal rather than temporary things • Giving as an act of worship and obedience • Becoming mature Christians who live generously 💬 Key Truth: Generosity is a reflection of the heart. When we understand that everything we have comes from God, we can give freely, joyfully, and purposefully—investing in what matters for eternity. 📖 Go deeper! 📝 Group discussion guide – Available Monday at 5 PM → https://CapitalLife.org/Sermon-Application 🔁 Sermon recap – Available Wednesday → https://CapitalLife.org/Sermon-Application 🙏 Need prayer? Never Give In

What happens when the Church becomes so accustomed to less that it no longer realizes how much it has surrendered? In “Never Give In,” Dr. Bill Shuler delivers a challenging call for Christians to recover the biblical picture of what it means to follow Jesus. The Church was never intended to simply blend into the culture around it. Jesus called His people to be a distinctive presence—to carry His truth, His power, His hope, and His presence into the world. Using the picture of Israel in Babylon from Psalm 137, Dr. Bill highlights a sobering reality: the Israelites didn't destroy their harps—they simply hung them up. In the same way, Christians may not completely abandon their faith, but can gradually become accustomed to less. We can retain the label of Christian while losing the authenticity, power, joy, and witness that should accompany a life transformed by Christ. Dr. Bill examines the warning of 2 Timothy 3:5 about having “a form of godliness” while denying its power and challenges the Church to move beyond appearance and image. Authentic Christianity goes deeper than attending church or saying the right things. It is about becoming people whose lives genuinely demonstrate that they have encountered Jesus. The message then turns to 1 Corinthians 11:1 and the example of the Apostle Paul: “Follow my example as I follow the example of Christ.” Our lives should point people toward Jesus. The world doesn't simply need Christians who can talk about faith—it needs believers whose lives demonstrate an authentic relationship with Christ. Through the story of Paul and Silas in Acts 16, we see what this looks like under pressure. Beaten, imprisoned, and chained, they refused to lose their song. At midnight they prayed and sang hymns to God while the other prisoners listened. When the earthquake came and the prison doors opened, they stayed and ultimately became instruments through which the jailer encountered the Gospel. Paul and Silas didn't settle. They didn't become merely a social club. They were the Church on the scene, carrying God's presence, power, encouragement, and hope. This message is a call to never give in and never give up—to refuse to hang up our spiritual “harps,” to remain faithful when circumstances are difficult, and to live out the Gospel authentically so that the next generation can see the power of a genuine relationship with Jesus. 📖 Scriptures: Matthew 16:18 | Psalm 137:1–9 | 2 Timothy 3:5 | 1 Corinthians 11:1 | Acts 16:22–30, 31, 40 💬 Quote Referenced: “Every day the Church is becoming more like the world it allegedly seeks to change.” — George Barna 📖 Message Highlights: • Jesus is building His Church, and the Church belongs to Him • The Church is called to be salt and light in the world • The danger of becoming accustomed to less • What it means to have a form of godliness but deny its power • Why authentic Christianity goes deeper than appearances • The difference between attending church and truly following Jesus • Keeping our spiritual “harps” instead of hanging them up • Following Christ in a way that others can see and imitate • Living an authentic faith that points people toward Jesus • Paul and Silas choosing worship in the middle of suffering • Refusing to let difficult circumstances silence our witness • Being the Church “on the scene” when people need hope • Carrying God's presence, power, encouragement, and hope • Refusing to settle for a counterfeit version of Christianity • Living faithfully for the sake of the next generation 💬 Key Truth: Never give in. Never give up. Don't become so accustomed to less that you forget what God has called His Church to be. Authentic faith refuses to hang up its harp, lose its song, or surrender its witness. We are called to follow Christ faithfully, live authentically, and carry His presence and power wherever He places us. The challenge of “Never Give In” is ultimately a call to spiritual authenticity, biblical Christianity, Christian perseverance, faith under pressure, the power of the Church, authentic Christian living, being salt and light, refusing compromise, following Jesus, sharing the Gospel, and becoming the kind of believer whose life points others to Christ. 📖 Go deeper! 📝 Group discussion guide – Available Monday at 5 PM → https://CapitalLife.org/Sermon-Application 🔁 Sermon recap – Available Wednesday → https://CapitalLife.org/Sermon-Application 🙏 Need prayer? Simply the Best

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself, "Am I really giving God my best?" In this challenging and inspiring message, Dr. Bill Shuler calls us to a higher standard of wholehearted devotion to God. Drawing from Scripture and the stories of biblical leaders, Pastor Bill challenges us to stop settling for what is merely good when God is calling us toward what is best. Through the story of a young Jimmy Carter being asked by an admiral whether he had always done his best, Dr. Bill introduces a question that reaches far beyond achievement or success: Why not pursue the best of what God has for you? The message takes us into the life of King Saul and his failure to fully obey God's command, revealing the danger of partial obedience and choosing our own way over God's way. We may have good options in front of us, but the God option is ultimately the one that leads us where we need to be. Pastor Bill also challenges us to examine where our affections are placed. Jesus calls us to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind—not simply to give God a portion of our lives while holding something back. This is a message about obedience, surrender, spiritual excellence, and refusing to coast when God is calling us to go deeper. God has more for us than settling for bronze when we can pursue gold—not material success, but the very best of what He has purposed for our lives. 📖 Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 15:58 | 2 Chronicles 12:9–11 | Philippians 1:9–11 | 1 Corinthians 10:23 | 1 John 1:6–10 | 2 Chronicles 25:2 | 1 Samuel 15:1–3, 7–9, 13–23 | Matthew 5:8 | Matthew 22:37 📖 Message Highlights: • The challenge of honestly asking, "Have I done my best?" • Why God calls us beyond simply coasting through life • Pursuing the best of what God has for us • The difference between a good option and the God option • Learning from King Saul's partial obedience • Why partial obedience is still disobedience • Examining the condition of our hearts and affections • Loving God with all our heart, soul, and mind • Choosing wholehearted devotion over divided priorities • Understanding the connection between obedience and spiritual maturity • Recognizing that there are people and purposes on the other side of our obedience • Moving intentionally toward God's calling rather than simply following the crowd 💬 Key Truth: God isn't asking us merely to be successful, comfortable, or good enough. He calls us to pursue Him with everything we have—to obey fully, love Him completely, and become the people He created us to be. The challenge is simple: Why settle for less when God is calling you to give Him your best? This message explores giving God your best, wholehearted devotion, obedience to God, partial obedience, spiritual excellence, Christian maturity, following God's will, loving God with all your heart, biblical leadership, King Saul's disobedience, spiritual growth, Christian character, surrender to God, and living with purpose. 📖 Go deeper! 📝 Group discussion guide – Available Monday at 5 PM → https://CapitalLife.org/Sermon-Application 🔁 Sermon recap – Available Wednesday → https://CapitalLife.org/Sermon-Application 🙏 Need prayer? Can I Get a Witness?

What if sharing your faith didn't require having all the answers—but simply being willing to tell someone what Jesus has done in your life? In this compelling message, Dr. Bill Shuler challenges every believer to embrace the calling to be a witness for Jesus Christ. Through the story of Andrew, Pastor Bill shows how one person's simple decision to bring someone to Jesus can have an eternal impact. From the moment Andrew encountered Jesus, his first response was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah." Dr. Bill emphasizes that witnessing isn't reserved for pastors, evangelists, or people with extraordinary personalities. Every follower of Jesus can be a witness by sharing their story, recognizing divine appointments, praying for people, and simply introducing others to Christ. Pastor Bill also examines five universal needs that cannot ultimately be satisfied by material prosperity, social improvement, or human achievement: the emptiness of the human heart, deep loneliness, guilt and shame, and the fear of death. The Gospel provides the answer to each of these needs through the love, sacrifice, and salvation found in Jesus. You'll also receive practical tools for becoming a more intentional witness—including writing a three-minute testimony and keeping a prayer journal to track the people and opportunities God places in your life. If you've ever wondered how to share your faith, how to talk to someone about Jesus, or how to become more confident in evangelism, this message will give you practical biblical direction and encouragement to take the next step. 📖 Scriptures: John 1:35–42 | John 12:20–22 | John 14:6 | Acts 4:12 | Romans 9:3 | Exodus 32:32 | John 3:16 | Romans 3:23 | Romans 6:23 | Romans 5:8 | Romans 10:13 📖 Message Highlights: • Learning from Andrew's example of bringing others to Jesus • Recognizing that witnessing is a calling for every believer • Understanding the importance of being sensitive to divine appointments • Why "the first thing" Andrew did was tell his brother about Jesus • Sharing your testimony with humility and confidence • Understanding five universal needs of the human heart • Why lasting fulfillment cannot come from material success or social improvement alone • The reality of loneliness, guilt, shame, and the fear of death without Christ • Understanding the Gospel through five key Scriptures • Writing and preparing a three-minute personal testimony • Keeping a prayer journal and intentionally praying for people who need Jesus • Moving from simply praying for people to being ready to witness when God opens the door 💬 Key Truth: God can use your story, your words, your prayers, and your willingness to introduce someone to Jesus. You don't have to know everything—you simply have to be willing to be a witness. This message explores Christian evangelism, how to share your faith, witnessing for Jesus, personal testimony, leading someone to Christ, Operation Andrew, Christian outreach, sharing the Gospel, how to talk about Jesus, salvation, and living as a witness for Christ. 📖 Go deeper! 📝 Group discussion guide – Available Monday at 5 PM → https://CapitalLife.org/Sermon-Application 🔁 Sermon recap – Available Wednesday → https://CapitalLife.org/Sermon-Application 🙏 Need prayer? Courageous in a Fearful World

How do we live with courage when fear, uncertainty, and suffering surround us? In this challenging and timely message, Dr. Bill Shuler explores the biblical call to courage and shows us how God can use even difficult circumstances to deepen our faith, strengthen our witness, and make us more like Christ. Drawing from the experiences of Moses, the early church, and the teachings of Jesus and Peter, Pastor Bill reminds us that courage isn't the absence of difficulty or fear—it is choosing to trust God and faithfully live for Him in the middle of it. Throughout Scripture, God's people are repeatedly called to take courage. In a world searching for answers, believers are called to stand ready to give an answer for the hope within them. Sometimes courage means enduring suffering. Sometimes it means speaking truth. And sometimes it simply means refusing to let fear determine how we live. If you're facing fear, adversity, uncertainty, or opposition because of your faith, this message will encourage you to see your circumstances differently and discover where God is calling you to courage. 📖 Scriptures: Exodus 3:7–8 | 1 Peter 5:6–10 | James 1:2–4 | Matthew 5:10 | Acts 8:1–4 | Acts 26:9–11 | 1 Peter 3:15 💬 Quotes Referenced: • C. S. Lewis — On God using pain to awaken us • Malcolm Muggeridge — On the lessons learned through affliction • Watchman Nee — On the fragrance of Christ produced through suffering • Howard Hendricks — On Christians responding to a world searching for answers 📖 Message Highlights: • Understanding the biblical call to courage • Learning how God can use suffering and adversity to shape our faith • Responding to trials with spiritual maturity (James 1:2–4) • Humbling ourselves and trusting God in difficult circumstances (1 Peter 5:6–10) • Following Moses' example of responding when God calls us to action • Understanding how persecution and opposition can become opportunities for witness • Being prepared to give an answer for the hope we have in Christ (1 Peter 3:15) • Choosing courage when fear would tell us to remain silent 💬 Key Truth: Courage isn't simply the absence of fear. Biblical courage is trusting God enough to obey Him, speak for Him, and remain faithful even when circumstances are difficult. This message explores Christian courage, overcoming fear, faith during suffering, spiritual boldness, persecution, Christian witness, standing for your faith, trusting God in difficult times, and living courageously in today's world. 📖 Go deeper! 📝 Group discussion guide – Available Monday at 5 PM → https://CapitalLife.org/Sermon-Application 🔁 Sermon recap – Available Wednesday → https://CapitalLife.org/Sermon-Application 🙏 Need prayer? Contending with Life's Shadows

What happens when the hidden struggles within us begin to affect the way we live, lead, and follow God? In this honest and challenging message, Dr. Bill Shuler examines the unseen parts of our lives that can become spiritual and personal pitfalls if they remain unexamined. Our greatest challenges aren't always external—sometimes they come from the selfishness, pride, insecurity, and hidden desires within us. Drawing from Proverbs 4, the life of David, and the reality of our own spiritual journey, Pastor Bill challenges us to take an honest look at ourselves, guard our hearts, and recognize the shadows that can quietly undermine our faith and effectiveness. The good news is that confronting our weaknesses doesn't have to lead to defeat. David's story demonstrates that even after serious failure, genuine repentance can lead to restoration. God wants us to recognize the areas that need His work so that we can remain faithful, avoid unnecessary detours, and finish the race well. If you've ever wrestled with hidden weaknesses, temptation, pride, insecurity, or the desire to finish your spiritual journey strong, this message offers both a serious challenge and a message of hope. 📖 Scriptures: Proverbs 4:23 | 2 Samuel 24:10 | Ecclesiastes 2:9–10 💬 Quotes Referenced: • Dee Hook — On the importance of managing ourselves • Bill Thrall — On the difference between honesty and integrity 📖 Message Highlights: • Understanding the "shadow side" of our lives • Why hidden urges, compulsions, and dysfunctions can eventually surface • The importance of guarding our hearts (Proverbs 4:23) • Taking an honest appraisal of ourselves • Recognizing pride, selfishness, jealousy, and insecurity before they control our decisions • Learning from David's failures and his response of genuine repentance • Understanding how our personal choices affect the people within our sphere of influence • Avoiding spiritual pitfalls and detours • Staying faithful and finishing the race well 💬 Key Truth: Integrity requires us to tell ourselves the truth. When we honestly confront the hidden areas of our lives and surrender them to God, He can transform our weaknesses, restore our effectiveness, and help us finish strong. This message explores spiritual growth, Christian integrity, guarding your heart, overcoming temptation, hidden struggles, pride and insecurity, David's failure and repentance, leadership character, spiritual maturity, avoiding pitfalls, and finishing the Christian life well. 📖 Go deeper! 📝 Group discussion guide – Available Monday at 5 PM → https://CapitalLife.org/Sermon-Application 🔁 Sermon recap – Available Wednesday → https://CapitalLife.org/Sermon-Application 🙏 Need prayer? Have you ever wondered how the highs and lows of your life fit into God's greater plan? In this encouraging and deeply personal message, Dr. Bill Shuler reminds us that every life tells a story—and God is the Master Author. Whether you've experienced seasons of joy, disappointment, success, or hardship, the Lord is continually at work, weaving every chapter together for His purposes. Calling Forth Life in Dry Places

Have you ever felt spiritually dry or wondered if God could revive what seems lost? In this hope-filled message, Dr. Bill Shuler explores one of Scripture's most powerful pictures of restoration—the Valley of Dry Bones in Ezekiel 37. No matter how lifeless a situation may appear, God specializes in breathing new life into what seems beyond hope. Through the promises of God's Word, Pastor Bill reminds us that the Lord is still bringing renewal to weary hearts, restoring broken dreams, and making a way where there seems to be no way. The God who called Abraham to become a blessing is the same God who is still doing new things today. If you've been longing for fresh faith, renewed purpose, or breakthrough in an area that feels dry, this message will encourage you to trust God's power to bring life, hope, and restoration. 📖 Scriptures: Ezekiel 37:1–14 | Genesis 12:2 | Isaiah 43:19 📖 Message Highlights: • God's power to bring life to dry places (Ezekiel 37) • Speaking God's promises over impossible situations • Trusting God when circumstances appear hopeless • Becoming a blessing to others through faithful obedience (Genesis 12:2) • Recognizing the new work God is doing in every season (Isaiah 43:19) • Walking in faith while believing God for restoration and renewal 💬 Key Truth: No place is too dry, no heart too broken, and no dream too far gone for God. His Spirit still brings life, restoration, and hope to those who trust Him. This message explores spiritual renewal, biblical restoration, hope in difficult seasons, the Valley of Dry Bones, God's promises, Christian encouragement, revival, and how God breathes new life into every area surrendered to Him. 📖 Go deeper! 📝 Group discussion guide – Available Monday at 5 PM → https://CapitalLife.org/Sermon-Application 🔁 Sermon recap – Available Wednesday → https://CapitalLife.org/Sermon-Application 🙏 Need prayer?
