    From Brokenness to Forgiveness

The Rev. Aleta McDaniel reminds us that though we are broken we are all children of God through the power of forgiveness. Because of God’s amazing grace we have been reconciled. Using as a title From Brokenness to Forgiveness, Rev. McDaniel preaches from Psalm 51:1-13.  Psalm 51:1-16 NRSVue  Have mercy on me, O God,    according to your steadfast love;according to your abundant mercy,    blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,    and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I know my transgressions,    and my sin is ever before me. 4 Against you, you alone, have I sinned    and done what is evil in your sight,so that you are justified in your sentence    and blameless when you pass judgment. 5 Indeed, I was born guilty,    a sinner when my mother conceived me. 6 You desire truth in the inward being;    therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart. 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;    wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Let me hear joy and gladness;    let the bones that you have crushed rejoice. 9 Hide your face from my sins,    and blot out all my iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,    and put a new and right spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from your presence,    and do not take your holy spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation,    and sustain in me a willing spirit. 13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,    and sinners will return to you. Then I will teach transgressors your ways,    and sinners will return to you. That'll Preach podcast is a ministry of the Olive Tree Community in Atlanta, Georgia. You Can’t Do Nothing Until the Holy Spirit Comes

The Rev. Fredrica Snead begins her sermon asking the questions; What does the Sacraments mean to you in today’s church? And how are the sacraments related to discipleship in today’s church? In today’s sermon Rev. Snead reminds us  about the importance of discipleship through the Sacrament of Confirmation drawing from the sacraments of Baptism & Holy Communion. Our sermon text comes from the Gospel of Matthew 28:16-25 & 1 Corinthians 11:23-25 from the title You Can’t Do Nothing Until the Holy Spirit Comes.  1 Corinthians 11:23-25 NRSVue  23 For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” Matthew 28:16-25 NRSVue  16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him, but they doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age. That'll Preach podcast is a ministry of the Olive Tree Community in Atlanta, Georgia. This episode was written and recorded by the Rev.
