Everyone has a story to tell, but often the stories we hear are success stories. This podcast talks about Failures. Quite frequently, a string of failures proceeds a success story , but we only tend to focus on the happy ending and forget the path that lead us there. In this podcast, we will hear from people about their failed plans, ideas, businesses and projects. My hope is to recognize that failures are normal, to some extent expected, and nothing to be afraid of.

While the last century has seen a lot of progress towards equality, the playing field is still not level in many important ways. In this episode, we talk about why this inequality exists and discuss the various forms it takes in our culture. We ask if women have to be exceptional outliers to make a mark in any field.     IIT-JEE, the exam with a failure rate of 99%

    In this episode we talk about the IIT-JEE exam. IITs are one of the most prestigious set of engineering colleges in India and their Joint Entrance Exam (or JEE) is one of the toughest exams to crack. With up to 160,000 applicants and only 11,000 admissions, more than 99% of the students who take the exam don't manage to get in.     The rise and fall of discs

    In this episode we talk to Ken Rogers about the compact disc industry. Ken Rogers worked for Modus, a company few people might have heard of. At its peak,  Modus was contracted to produced 25-30% of all software discs in the market. But with the advent of the internet,  distribution of software on discs was no longer economically viable.  We explore this inevitable obsolescence of compact discs in detail. We also talk about how the tech industry moved from the east coast to the west, the change in office dynamics in the last 2 decades and working from home. Tune in to hear more.

    Studying abroad

    I talk with 3 friends about their experience with studying abroad.  Pooja Ahuja talks about her experience at UNL and differences in learning between India and US. She also takes us through a stressful job switch and her experience working from home. Collen Anderson talks about re-visiting Paris for her higher studies and takes us through some quirks of the French education system.  She goes over the bumpy transition to e-learning and shares how she overcomes mental health issues during a global pandemic. Ankit Vani tells us how his master's helped him overcome bad grades in his bachelor's and pivot into research. He also shares some insights into various forms of research and goes into some common pitfalls.
