    Colonizing another planet

What would it look like for humans to colonize another planet? [Script] Hi, I am Eunseo Kwon from period 2 “Exploring Our Hopes & Fears” class. My prompt is about “What would it look like for humans to colonize another planet?” What comes to your mind when you first hear about colonization..? Reflecting on ideas that happened on Earth, there are large quantities of historical events that illustrate insight of colonization. Based on Richard A. Webster, who wrote a history article about Western colonialism. He describes European Expansion was settled with political-economic phenomenon whereby various European nations explored to gain powers. Not only that,  another significant event that happened is Asia was Japanese imperialism. In 1910, Korea was annexed by the Empire of Japan after years of war with intimidation and political machinations. In order to establish control over its new protectorate, the Empire of Japan waged an all-out war on Korean culture. This horrendous violence of taking dominance over other countries created a history of trauma. Along with that, There are 9 questions that I’ve interviewed for this Prompt of “What would it look like for humans to colonize another planet?”. Me: This is an interview from Vina Dinh who is a current high school student who took AP history and has background knowledge of colonization. Me: What have you learned about colonization? Me: When did you first hear about colonizing another planet, what comes to your mind? Me: Can you tell me about a specific example? Me: What was it like before? Me: What do you think of people’s psychological perspective on colonizing another planet? Me: Compared to the history of colonization that happened on Earth, what should we do differently?  (Colonizing another planet) Me: When colonizing has happened on the planet, what will come next? Me: What was the biggest challenge that people faced during colonization? Me: How has this changed our world? When she was a young 9 years old girl, there was a Japanese colonization over Korea. The school and universities forbade speaking Korean and emphasized manual labor and loyalty to the Japanese government. Moreover, it became a crime to teach history from non-approved texts and authorities burned over 200,000 Korean historical documents( numbers are from other sources). Essentially the dominance became gradual. So Japanese government chopped down trees by the millions and planted non-native species, transforming a familiar landscape into something many Koreans didn’t recognize. And forced hundreds of thousands of Korean women into life as“comfort women”, which was sexual slaves who served in military brothels Therefore, I believe the colonization of another planet should not happen over dominating others. Humanity needs to act with compromise and understanding without any violence.
