    INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/intertoto For IA MIX 398, @intertoto_music steps away from the traditional DJ format to deliver an exclusive live set composed of unreleased material and dubbed-out stems - a snapshot of a performance configuration currently taking shape. Immersed in a super dubby, murky atmosphere, the set gradually gives way to a handful of 4/4 excursions towards the closing stretch. Keeping things deliberately minimal, the live setup centres around Ableton, recently expanded with Intech Studio MIDI controllers and coloured by a hands-on outboard effects chain. As Intertoto notes, even subtle shifts in processing can dramatically reshape the outcome - a philosophy that permeates the mix’s fluid, zoned-out energy. Recorded in the studio with headphones on, this is deep immersion: “some proper zoned out business…” In our interview below, we speak with Intertoto about studio gear, the father of modern geology, the importance of texture, and the role of controlled randomness.     REVIEW & TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/u One year on from Life Isn’t A Fountain? - the Lex Records EP where archival post-punk was reanimated through meticulous sample-work - the elusive producer U returns with a project that reaches further back and digs far deeper. On ARCHENFIELD, U turns their attention to the Herefordshire borderlands, where English and Welsh histories intermingle and where myth, memory and landscape blur into one another. The album unfolds like auditory time travel: fourteen tracks built from traditional song, home-taped fragments and scraps pulled from television, radio, film and YouTube, all woven into a drifting folkloric reverie. Rather than simply excavating the past, U examines how stories mutate through retelling, how landscapes carry collective memory, and how folklore persists in the messy ways people inhabit a place. If Life Isn’t A Fountain? channelled Thatcher-era discontent through a cracked post-punk prism, ARCHENFIELD widens the lens to probe the fragile relationship between identity and the rural environments that shape it. Dusty pianos, murmuring drones and spectral voices evoke a modern England increasingly severed from the histories beneath its feet. To mark the release, U delivers IA MIX 397, a journey through post-punk, new wave and wayward micro-scenes. Mining forgotten corners of their collection, U mirrors the album’s central question: how the remnants of one era can speak powerfully to the uncertainties of another.

    INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/intrusion When Stephen Hitchell released The Seduction of Silence in 2009 under his Intrusion alias, the double-CD immediately established itself as a landmark in the dub techno continuum. Across deep, glacial chords, cavernous bass and hypnotic atmospheres, Hitchell expanded the Berlin/Detroit lineage into something spiritual and introspective – a meditative art form rooted in emotion, texture and stillness rather than club-function alone. Sixteen years on, The Seduction of Silence returns in its most definitive form, with both Part 1 and Part 2 now finally available on vinyl for the first time. Remastered and cut by Stefan Betke (POLE), the records unlock new depth and dimensionality, offering a fully immersive experience for both longstanding admirers and new listeners. Part 1 traces the genesis of Intrusion, sparked by Hitchell’s rediscovery of a Sequential Circuits Prophet 2000 sampler containing fragments of his ’90s experiments. Revived during a period of transition – long hours in record distribution, a move to Chicago’s lakeside, impending fatherhood – those sounds became the foundation for weighty yet introspective dub, heard vividly in Montego Bay and Intrusion Dub. Part 2 carries a more expansive, improvisational feel, influenced by the late Phillip C. Hertz, Hitchell’s colleague at Crosstalk Distribution. Recorded through live jams and experimental sessions, this chapter drifts into deeper ambient-dub territory, paying tribute to collaboration, community and the fluidity of sound. Together, both parts form a deeply personal document of life, art and devotion to sound. Alongside this feature, Hitchell shares a live recording from his New York debut at Public Records in July 2025, hosted by Zen/Echo – an intimate Intrusion performance in full analog drift. Currently based in New York, Eden’s spent many years immersed in the DIY and club scenes of NYC and Chicago, her previous home before relocating two years ago. Last year’s debut ‘Pleateau’ was one of our favourite releases of 2024. A potent mixture of ambient and dub techno, ‘Pleateau’ has only gotten better in the spin around the sun since it was released. It hooks you in with its unhurried rhythms that pulse with a vibrant spirit. The album feels like a welcome time out from the anxieties of constant connections and endless news cycles. Along with recent output by Purelink (who are friends and collaborators), Eden’s work feels like an essential new chapter in the long, winding story of ambient dub. As Summer takes control, we caught up with Eden to talk about her musical beginnings, all time and current favourite albums, and upcoming projects.

As the name suggests, @wreckedlightship carries fractured memories of vessels forgotten in vast expanses, from the sea and beyond. The weight of their work conjures images of desolate landscapes beyond human reach, yet their invitation into this sonic vision becomes a ticket to inhabit the very space of extraterrestrials. 'Drained Strands' withholds a kind of extraordinary beauty that is more often felt than heard. This combined performance unit of solo acts Appleblim & Wedge exists in an untethered vortex - one built from scattered electronics and bruised hearts. All of this culminates in IA MIX 392, a studio mix where heavy scores of bass and a plethora of textures, some borrowed and some unheard, bubble together in a melting pot of comfort and disorder.
