Remembering Bill Walton & A Conversation About Athletes & Their Place In Politics and Social Justice With Richard Deitsch.

Bill Walton, a National Basketball Association Hall of Famer and one of the sport's biggest broadcasters, has died at age 71.
Richard Deitsch joins the show today as the three reflect on Walton’s career in both basketball and broadcasting.
Given Bill’s involvement in social justice issues, Bob, John, and Richard spend some time discussing the social impact an athlete can have. The three wonder whether or not the influence professional athletes have should be used to tackle the world’s issues, and if so, how much weight should these opinions hold?

Canada Basketball, The NBA Playoffs, Baseball & More With Arash Madani

It’s the beginning of the week, and McCown and Shannon are joined by Arash Madani for some general sports talk.
John Shannon said it best - Arash is the type of guy who can hit any curveball you throw at him, and he puts it on full display today. The three bounce from conversation to conversation, starting with the upcoming Summer Olympics and the details behind Canada’s men's basketball team, their roster, and their hopes for gold at the games.
International basketball shifts to NBA action as the three break down Dallas’ win over the Timberwolves last night. After the break, the three get into some baseball talk, with the Toronto Blue Jays dropping yet another series, this time to the Detroit Tigers.

Friday Free-For-All with Richard Deitsch: The WNBA is Coming to Toronto, NBA on TNT is No More & The Oilers Double OT Victory in Dallas

When there's lots to talk about, who better to do it with than Richard Deitsch?
Bob, John, and Richard bounce from topic to topic on today’s episode, starting with the WNBA. Having not spoken with Richard since the news of a new WNBA franchise making its way to Toronto in 2026, Bob and John get his opinion on what it means for the city and the sport. The three also debate the merit of women’s pro sports and wonder: Is this just a fad? Or will this rise in popularity last?
After the break, the three break down the Oilers' double OT win against the Dallas Stars in the NHL’s Western Conference Final. Bob, John, and Richard talk about the significance of winning the Stanley Cup and question what it would do for Connor McDavid’s legacy before we end the show with a conversation about the future of the NBA on TNT.

The Curious Case of the Mismanaged Toronto Blue Jays with Rob Longley.

The Curious Case of the Mismanaged Toronto Blue Jays with Rob Longley.

The Toronto Blue Jays actually won a series! Albeit, it was against the Chicago White Sox, but a win is a win! The team was hitting, the Home Run Jacket is back, and all is well in Toronto, right?
If we have learned anything about this team, the answer is a resounding no. Rob Longley joins the show today to pick apart this baseball team as Bob, John, and Rob take a look at their inconsistent offense, unreliable batting, and ultimately, the mismanagement over the last few years from the front office.

Great sports talk

I am new to Bob McCown, but I’ve been a long time admirer of John Shannon. I really appreciate the hockey coverage, and the perspective both hosts bring. I am not a fan of golf per se, but was a bit taken back by your guests legitimizing LIV. The bottom line is a former US president profits from being a host to numerous LIV events, and a number of former politicians/advisors profit as well from Saudi blood money. It’s a web of deception by the Saudi’s who are trying to distance themselves from what they are: a harsh authoritarian society which has attempted to purchase “legitimacy” & “whitewash” their history- 15 of the 9/11 terrorists were Saudis & the killing of a US journalist was sanctioned by MBS (US and foreign intelligence). I like keeping politics out of sports, but in the case of LIV, it’s impossible. Great show tho!

One of the very few Podcasts that I listen to every day and the first review I have taken the time to write.

Bob and John are a must listen, especially if you’re a Canadian sports fan.

Go Jays!! Go Raptors!!
