The Packers can have an ELITE defense...if Gutey fixes THIS

How good is the Green Bay Packers defense compared with the rest of the NFC? We rank every NFC defense into tiers and examine whether Green Bay has enough talent to become a championship-level unit under Jonathan Gannon in 2026. The Packers have legitimate star power, but two unresolved position groups could determine the defense's ceiling. We break down Keisean Nixon and the concerning cornerback room, the pass-rush plan surrounding Micah Parsons, Lukas Van Ness and Green Bay's young EDGE defenders, and what Brian Gutekunst still needs to address before the season begins. 💸 Donate Some Love: If you love the show, please consider helping to keep us “derailed” at https://venmo.com/packerproject or https://cash.app/$PackerProject Join J.J. We ranked every NFC QB...and Jordan Love changed the whole list

Where does Jordan Love really rank among NFC quarterbacks entering the 2026 season? We build a complete NFC QB tier list and determine where the Green Bay Packers' franchise quarterback belongs compared with the conference's best. This is not simply a ranking based on last season's statistics. We debate each quarterback's talent, consistency, ceiling and ability to win meaningful games, while asking the question that matters most to Packers fans: How many NFC quarterbacks would you actually rather have leading Green Bay? 💸 Donate Some Love: If you love the show, please consider helping to keep us “derailed” at https://venmo.com/packerproject or https://cash.app/$PackerProject Join J.J. Along the way, the conversation somehow turns into the "Poop Loop," the "K-Shaped Economy," and a full NFC-wide debate about which teams actually give their quarterbacks the best chance to win.   Subscribe for more Green Bay Packers analysis, Packers news, NFC rankings, roster breakdowns, and Packers: DERAILED.   Join J.J. Training Camp Battles That Could DERAIL the Packers Season

Which Packers training camp battles could define the 2026 season? On this episode of Packers: DERAILED, J.J. Lahey and Jake Schyvinck hold a full training camp draft, picking the position battles that are the most interesting, the most important, and the most likely to derail Green Bay if the answers are not good enough. We start with the biggest concern on the roster: cornerback. Is Keisean Nixon really CB1? Can Carrington Valentine, Brandon Cisse, or Benjamin St-Juste stabilize the room? Or do the Packers need to make a trade before the season starts? From there, we get into the offensive line questions that could make or break the offense, including Anthony Belton vs. Jager Burton at right guard, Sean Rhyan’s grip on the center job, and whether Jacob Monk can still force his way into the conversation. We also break down the edge rusher depth behind Lukas Van Ness while Micah Parsons works his way back, the defensive tackle rotation with Devonte Wyatt, Javon Hargrave, Jordon Riley, Nazir Stackhouse, Warren Brinson, and Chris McClellan, plus the running back depth chart behind Josh Jacobs. Other camp battles include MarShawn Lloyd vs. the blue medical tent, Trey Smack vs. Lucas Havrisik in the kicker competition, the WR4 race featuring Savion Williams, Bo Melton, and J. Michael Sturdivant, and the blocking tight end battle while Tucker Kraft recovers. If the Packers are going to contend in 2026, these are the roster questions they have to answer first. The Josh Jacobs Situation Might Not Matter

The Josh Jacobs situation has been talked about for weeks, but there is one angle Packers fans may not be thinking about enough: what if this does not actually change much for Green Bay on the field? On this episode of Packers: DERAILED, J.J. Lahey and Jake Schyvinck discuss the latest Josh Jacobs conversation from a football perspective, including the possible NFL timeline, how the Packers may handle the uncertainty, and why the roster impact might not be as obvious as it seems. We also get into the bigger training camp picture for Green Bay, including the cornerback room, Johnathan Baldwin’s path to the 53-man roster, safety depth, roster construction, and where the Packers still need answers before the season. Plus, we take some listener questions, talk through the possibility of a Madden showdown between J.J. and Jake, and discuss former Packers second-round pick Josh Jones returning to Green Bay through the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship. Predicting the NFC North (2026)

The NFC North may not be what everyone thinks it is. On this episode of Packers: DERAILED, J.J. Lahey and Jake Schyvinck play a blind ranking game with a wheel of NFL teams. Five teams come up at random, and we have to rank them as they appear without knowing who is coming next. First, we rank the teams based on where we think they will finish in 2026. Then we spin the wheel again and rank teams based on who has the brightest future over the next three years. After that, we turn the conversation back to Green Bay and the NFC North. From a Packers fan perspective, we predict where each NFC North team will finish in the division, then give one word or phrase to describe what we expect from each team’s 2026 season. This is a Packers-only conversation about the division, the future of the NFC, and how Green Bay stacks up in a changing NFC North. The Packers Are Copying the Seahawks and Rams

The Green Bay Packers offense may be changing in exactly the way fans have been waiting for. On this episode of Packers: DERAILED, J.J. Lahey and Jake Schyvinck debate whether Green Bay is quietly copying pieces of the Seahawks and Rams offensive blueprint, what that says about Jordan Love, and why the Packers may already be letting Love push the ball downfield more than people realize. We start with some overlooked Packers free agent options, including Curtis Samuel, Jadeveon Clowney, Joey Bosa, and Haason Reddick. Could Samuel give Green Bay a versatile depth piece as a WR, RB/H-back type, and kick returner? Could one of the veteran edge rushers make more sense than people realize when compared to the Josh Sweat conversation? Then we debate whether Lukas Van Ness is ready to become the face of the Packers defense. Jake argues that LVN may have already broken out, but injuries kept fans from fully appreciating it. J.J. looks at Micah Parsons’ absence and asks whether Van Ness is about to step into a much bigger leadership role. If not LVN, is it Xavier McKinney, Edgerrin Cooper, or Zaire Franklin? A listener call from Daddy Czap sparks a Jordan Love debate: do the Packers need to stop managing him and let him cook? The surprising answer is that Green Bay may already be letting Love push the ball downfield. So, what is really holding the offense back? We also get into Matthew Golden’s 1,000-yard potential, whether he can become the Packers’ dominant X receiver, the real meaning of “SC,” and whether Aaron Banks will make Packers fans forget about him for the right reason or the wrong one. Plus, should Brian Gutekunst trade for a running back, or keep sifting through undrafted free agents and cheaper depth options? If the 2026 Packers Fail, Here’s Where We Think It Went Wrong

The Green Bay Packers have already told us what they think went wrong last season. Now the question is whether they actually fixed enough of it. On this episode of Packers: DERAILED, J.J. Lahey and Jake Schyvinck look at Green Bay’s offseason through the lens of confidence. Were the 2025 Packers frauds, unlucky, or just too fragile once injuries started piling up? And after OTAs and minicamp, how should Packers fans feel about the plan for the 2026 season? We discuss what the Packers’ offseason moves reveal about their view of the roster, including Micah Parsons, the pass rush, Jonathan Gannon’s new defense, the cornerback room, the offensive line, the wide receiver hierarchy, and whether Matt LaFleur’s assistant coaching staff is good enough for a team with Super Bowl expectations. Jordan Love is good enough. That is not the concern. The bigger question is whether the Packers have the pass rush depth, cornerback answers, offensive line stability, special teams reliability, and coaching infrastructure to survive the season and make a real playoff run. Were injuries the real reason last season fell apart, or did the Packers expose deeper problems that still need to be solved? Packers: DERAILED is hosted by J.J. Lahey and Jake Schyvinck, bringing Green Bay Packers fans honest, in-depth discussion on the biggest Packers storylines.
