🎙️ CALLIE HOUSE | The Woman They Tried to Silence | Black History Mini Docs Podcast 🎙️

Send us Fan Mail Welcome to **Black History Mini Docs Podcast**, where we honor the powerful stories, forgotten voices, and courageous figures who helped shape Black history. In this episode, we spotlight the remarkable life and legacy of **Callie House** — a fearless activist, organizer, and early pioneer in the fight for reparations for formerly enslaved Black Americans. Born into slavery in 1861, Callie House rose to become one of the most important yet often overlooked leaders of the post-Civil War era. ✊🏾 **Callie House refused to be quiet.** At a time when Black people were still fighting for basic rights, dignity, land, safety, and economic justice, Callie House helped lead the **National Ex-Slave Mutual Relief, Bounty and Pension Association**. Through this organization, she worked to secure pensions and compensation for formerly enslaved people whose labor had built the wealth of America. Her movement gained thousands of supporters across the country — and because of that, she became a target. ⚖️ The government tried to discredit her.   📨 They accused her of mail fraud.   🚔 They prosecuted and imprisoned her.   🖤 But they could not erase her legacy. This podcast-style mini documentary explores the story of a woman who challenged injustice with courage, organization, and vision. Callie House’s fight was not only about money — it was about recognition, repair, and the unfinished business of freedom. Her story reminds us that the demand for justice did not begin yesterday. It has deep roots, powerful leaders, and brave voices who risked everything so future generations would know the truth. 🎧 Sit back, listen, reflect, and honor the legacy of **Callie House — the woman they tried to silence.** If this episode inspires you, please remember to: 👍 Like   💬 Comment   🔔 Subscribe   📢 Share   🖤 Support Black History Mini Docs   Thank you for listening and supporting stories that deserve to be remembered.
