EP 3-Where The Wild Things Are

Welcome to the third episode of the first season of the Directors Deep Dive podcast. We continue our dive into the filmography of Spike Jonze by talking about the first lukewarm film in an otherwise immaculate filmography.  We're talking Where The Wild Things Are. We discuss the power of James Gandolfini, how Spike has the best production designers in all of hollywood, the pitfalls of adapting a 40 page book, the camera moves that lay the groundwork for his masterpiece Her. and how if anyone is going to make a truncated, overly earnest coming of age film, you can't go THAT wrong with Spike Jonze. EP 2-Adaptation

Welcome to the second episode of our first season of Directors Deep Dive. Continuing our season on Spike Jonze, we talk about his second film, the meta-fiction existentialist drama Adaptation. One of the most difficult movies to describe, we talk about the magnificent Charlie Kaufman script, defending Nic Cage as one of the great American actors, and anxiety when it comes to writing. If you have any thoughts on the movie, feedback or want to recommend. director for us, please email us at dirctorsdeepdive@gmail.com

    EP 1-Being John Malkovich

Welcome to the inaugural episode of the Director's Deep Dive. Jake and Andrew are two film obsessed friends from across the country who spend all of our conversations talking about movies. So we decided to make a podcast where we talk about the films of directors we love starting from their first to their most recent films.  It was a no-brainer to start this podcast with one of our all time favorite directors, Spike Jonze. In this episode we talk about the miraculousness of Charlie Kaufman's script, the perfect casting of Catherine Keener, and the alt universe where the movie is instead Being Tom Cruise, as one studio executive who passed on the film describes. We also recommend a movie each for you to check out based on watching this film. If you have any thoughts about this film, suggestions for directors we should talk about, or any other nonsense, email us at directorsdeepdive@gmail.com
