9-20-26: Boldness in the Face of Persecution

What happens when standing up for your faith lands you in jail? That is exactly the situation we find ourselves exploring in Acts 4, where Peter and John are arrested for healing a man and preaching the resurrection of Jesus. This message digs into what it truly means to be bold in the face of opposition, and the answer might surprise us. It is not about having the right credentials, the perfect words, or a flawless track record. Peter, the same man who denied even knowing Christ, stands before the most powerful religious court of his day and does not soften a single word. The secret behind that kind of courage is the filling of the Holy Spirit, a special enabling that does not replace our preparation and time in God's Word, but goes far beyond what we could produce on our own. The lesson for us is deeply personal: we already have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us the moment we trust Christ. The question is whether we are yielding control to Him or trying to navigate life's challenges on our own. Real boldness does not ease into the room, read the temperature, and then decide how much truth to share. It commits fully and trusts God with the outcome.

9-13-26: A Life Fueled by the Holy Spirit

What does it actually look like to live a faith that moves beyond the walls of a church service and into the everyday moments of our lives? Acts chapter 3 gives us a vivid, street-level picture of exactly that. We find Peter and John walking toward the temple when they encounter a man who has been lame from birth, sitting at the gate called Beautiful, begging for coins. What happens next is not just a miracle story. It is a masterclass in Spirit-fueled living. The passage teaches us that a life empowered by the Holy Spirit begins with something deceptively simple: noticing the people around us. In a world that rewards speed and self-focus, slowing down to truly see someone in need is itself a radical act of faith. When Peter looks at this man and says 'look at us,' he is not just getting his attention. He is restoring his dignity. That single moment of being seen changes everything. The deeper spiritual lesson here is that when the Holy Spirit takes up residence in our lives, He begins to reorient our entire worldview away from self and toward others. We are challenged to ask ourselves whether the interruptions in our daily routines might actually be divine appointments, moments where the mission of God intersects with the ordinary rhythm of our day.

9-6-26: Lives on Fire

What happens when the gospel truly takes hold of a heart? Acts 2:37-47 gives us a live, unfiltered look at exactly that. We see a community of people who were not merely inspired by a great message but were cut to the heart by it, moved to repentance, baptism, and a completely reoriented way of life. The central lesson here is both simple and profound: a changed life begins with a changed heart. Repentance, as explored in this passage, is not just feeling remorse. It is a decisive turning away from one old way of living and a turning toward something far better. And that turning does not stop at a single moment of conversion. It becomes a continual, daily posture before God. The early church did not coast on the mountaintop experience of Pentecost. They devoted themselves, every single day, to teaching, to fellowship, to breaking bread together, and to prayer. That devotion is what transformed a spiritual moment into spiritual maturity. The question this passage puts before us is a searching one: what do our lives reveal about what we are truly devoted to?

8-30-26: This Jesus Whom You Crucified

What does it look like when a person is truly transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit? In Acts 2, we find one of the most striking before-and-after portraits in all of Scripture. We see a man who, in his own strength, boldly declared he would never abandon his Lord, only to deny him three times before sunrise. Then, filled with the Holy Spirit, that same man stands before a crowd and delivers a message so saturated with Scripture and so centered on Christ that three thousand people surrender their lives to God in a single day. The lesson woven through this passage is both humbling and liberating: our own confidence and self-reliance will fail us every time, but the Holy Spirit working through surrendered, willing hearts can accomplish what no amount of human effort ever could. This sermon walks us through that transformation and invites us to examine where we are placing our confidence. Are we leaning on our own resolve, or are we genuinely dependent on the Spirit of God? The answer to that question shapes everything about how we live, how we speak, and how we reflect the light of Christ to the world around us.

8-23-26: Who Will We Be While We Wait?

What do we do when the familiar changes and the path forward is unclear? That is the question at the heart of this powerful message drawn from Acts 2:1-13. As the disciples found themselves in one of history's greatest leadership transitions, they did not panic, drift, or put the mission on hold. They stayed together, sought the Lord, and waited with expectation. And then, suddenly, the Holy Spirit moved. The central lesson here is both simple and profound: the leader may change, but the Lord has not. The season may shift, but the mission remains the same. The Spirit of God, the same Spirit who filled that upper room, is still present and still active. We are reminded that the power of the church was never meant to rest on one personality or one position. It rests on the Spirit of God dwelling in the people of God. Each one was filled. All of them were sent. That means the call to speak of the mighty deeds of God belongs to every one of us, not just those with a title or a platform. This message challenges us to ask not only what comes next, but who we are going to be while we wait.

8-9-26: The Promise, the Power, and the Purpose

What does it look like when an unstoppable fire gets started? In Acts chapter 1, we are brought face to face with the origin story of the church, and it is a story that belongs to us just as much as it belonged to those first disciples. The passage opens with a risen Christ spending 40 days with his followers, not simply celebrating his victory over death, but reaffirming the mission he had always been building toward: the proclamation of the kingdom of God. We are reminded that from Genesis to Revelation, the entire arc of Scripture points to a God who relentlessly pursues his creation, determined to restore what sin had broken. The cross was not a detour. It was always the plan. And the resurrection was not the end of the story. It was the launching pad for a movement that would reach every corner of the earth. What makes this message so compelling is that the people God chose to carry it were ordinary. They were uncertain, they were asking the wrong questions about timing, and they were completely incapable of fulfilling the mission on their own strength. Yet God did not disqualify them. He equipped them. The promise of the Holy Spirit stands at the center of this passage as the answer to every excuse we might offer for why we cannot live on mission. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in every believer. That is not a small thing. That is everything we need.

8-2-26: There is No Place Like Home

What if everything we have ever longed for is not behind us but ahead of us? Revelation 21 and 22 pull back the curtain on the ultimate destination of every believer, and what we find there is far greater than anything this world has ever offered. We explore the breathtaking promise of a new heaven, a new earth, and a new Jerusalem, where God himself wipes away every tear, where death is swallowed up forever, and where the curse that has haunted creation since the fall of Eden is completely and permanently undone. The central truth driving this message is not merely the beauty of a restored creation, but the staggering reality that God himself will dwell among his people. The streets of gold and the gates of pearl are not the point. The point is the presence of Christ, whose glory illuminates the entire city without need of sun or moon. We are reminded that heaven is not an endless vacation but an eternal vocation, a life of purposeful service, joyful worship, and unhindered communion with the one who gave everything to bring us home. If there is a longing in our hearts that nothing in this world has ever fully satisfied, this message speaks directly to why that is and where that longing ultimately leads.

7-26-26: Raised to Walk in New Life

What does it mean to truly declare your faith? In this message drawn from Romans 6:3-11, we explore one of the most visually powerful acts of Christian obedience: baptism. Far from being a ritual that saves us or a ceremony that dispenses grace, baptism is a bold, public declaration that something profound has already happened in our hearts. We walk through what baptism is not, clearing away centuries of misunderstanding, and arrive at its true beauty as a symbol of the gospel itself. Going under the water pictures the burial of Christ; rising out of it pictures His resurrection. Every baptism is, in the words of this message, a victory lap around the empty tomb. For anyone wrestling with questions about their faith, their obedience, or their standing before God, this exploration of Romans 6 offers both clarity and deep encouragement.
