The Risen Fallen Podcast

Mark Henriksen

We ALL fall down, together we rise. Whether you’re going through dark days, or have dealt with them in the past, or perhaps maybe they have impacted someone you love, we have all been impacted by mental health struggles in some way, shape or form. No matter what it is that you are going through, life can and will get better for you. We have all felt that same feeling of being alone in this world, when the lights are all out, and nobody else is awake and all we have is the voice in our head. The feeling that even with our friends, family, coworkers, teammates, bosses, coaches, and peers around us, that we are alone in this fight, and in this world. THAT SPECIFIC FEELING IS WHAT CONNECTS US ALL. We are together alone. Not only will it get “better” but I truly believe you can find the greatness that resides within you, and that you’ll spread it to others as well. I find it interesting to speak with business owners, hard workers, and inspiring people about the challenges they have faced and how they‘ve overcome them. Based out of Vancouver, I find it important to speak about some of the difficult things in life, and to encourage others to feel happier and spread the love!

How to Survive Social Media Without Losing Your Mind | Ep. #226

Is social media deciding what you think about—and how you feel—before your day even starts? In this episode of Risen Fallen, I’m talking about doomscrolling, rage bait, and taking back your attention in a world that constantly competes for it.   I share how I catch myself getting pulled into online arguments, why being connected through technology doesn’t always translate into connection in real life, and the difference between choosing your screen time and reaching for your phone out of habit.   From echo chambers and polarizing news to the temptation of constant entertainment, I reflect on what we consume, what we create, and what we give away in exchange for convenience—including our time, attention, and personal data.   I also talk about my own relationship with gaming and social media, creating friction around compulsive scrolling, and remembering to treat the people we love like people we love—even when we disagree.   If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by the news, distracted by your phone, or tired of getting pulled into everyone else’s outrage, this conversation is an invitation to pause and use technology with more intention.   What gets more of your attention: the people on your screen or the people in your life?   Subscribe to Risen Fallen for open, authentic conversations about mental health, self-development, and moving 1% closer to the life you want to live. Do the Thing Before You Feel the Thing | Write the Next Chapter of Your Life | Ep. #224

Sometimes you have to write the next few chapters of your life before you can go back and make peace with the previous ones.   What if the key to healing, building confidence, and changing your life isn't waiting until you feel better, but starting to act differently today?   In this episode of the Risen Fallen Podcast, I talk about rebuilding self-trust, overcoming limiting beliefs, and why personal growth often begins with action rather than motivation.   Every time we break a promise to ourselves, neglect our health, or fail to follow through on our commitments, we risk reinforcing a negative story about who we are. We start believing we're lazy, unreliable, undisciplined, or incapable of changing.   But what happens when we start creating evidence of the opposite? Through exercise, reading, journaling, keeping our word, reducing screen time, and taking responsibility for ourselves, we can begin to prove that our past doesn't have to dictate our future.   I also share my own experiences with physical transformation, the importance of building confidence through consistent action, and how developing healthier habits helped me create the space to revisit difficult chapters of my own life.   In this episode, we explore: Why broken promises damage our confidence and self-trust How to rebuild discipline through small, consistent actions Why you sometimes have to act healed before you feel healed How exercise and healthy habits can change your self-image The dangers of excessive screen time and constant consumption Why your past mistakes don't have to define your future How taking care of yourself can help prepare you for deeper emotional healing Why doing the thing often has to come before feeling like doing it   You don't need to change your entire life overnight. You just need to start making decisions that reflect the person you want to become. Your history is not your destiny. Start writing the next chapter.   If this episode resonates with you, share it with somebody who needs to hear it, and let me know your thoughts in the comments.   Subscribe to the Risen Fallen Podcast for weekly conversations about mental health, self-development, discipline, personal responsibility, and becoming one percent better every day.   Website: https://risenfallen.com/ YouTube: https://youtube.com/risenfallen Instagram: @RisenFallen TikTok: @RisenFallenPod   If you liked the show, help it grow!   Leave a review and rate 5 stars on Apple Podcast, and Spotify! 3   #SelfImprovement #PersonalGrowth #SelfDiscipline #MentalHealth #SelfTrust #RisenFallenPodcast

Life Is Mostly Maintenance: Stop Waiting Until You Feel Ready | Ep. #218

Most of life isn’t about getting the thing — it’s about learning how to maintain it.   In this episode of the Risen Fallen Podcast, we talks about why relationships, fitness, mental health, home ownership, work, and personal growth all require constant attention. Getting in shape is one thing. Staying in shape is another. Finding a relationship is one thing. Learning how to communicate, compromise, forgive, and grow together is another.   We also explore why waiting until you feel “ready” can keep you stuck. You don’t need to know how to fix every problem before buying a house, becoming a husband, starting a business, or pursuing something meaningful. A lot of the skills you need can only be developed once you actually put yourself in the position to learn them. This episode also looks at preventative maintenance in life — dealing with small problems before they become big ones, asking for help when something is outside your wheelhouse, and recognizing that many of the problems we complain about are connected to things we’re fortunate to have in the first place.   If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time, trying to have everything figured out, or feeling overwhelmed by the constant upkeep of life, this episode is a reminder that maintenance isn’t failure.   It’s part of having something worth taking care of.   Topics include: • Personal growth and self-development • Mental health maintenance • Fitness and consistency • Marriage and relationships • Home ownership and responsibility • Preventative maintenance in life • Asking for help • Overcoming fear and discomfort • Why you’ll never feel fully ready • Gratitude and perspective   The Risen Fallen Podcast is an open and authentic conversation about mental health, self-development, personal responsibility, relationships, and building a better life one step at a time.
