Great podcast! Hits with some sobering realities of preaching, yet it’s liberating to be equipped with practical equipping. Preachers (especially those developing their craft) would do well working through these. Thanks for the great resource!

Philippians 1:15 [15] Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. The modern preacher has vastly become those who preach for selfish gain. This podcast is a good example of what happens when you get away from the whole counsel of God and boil everything down to 1-3 modern points. Today preachers are looking to the great “successful” preacher of history and trying to mimic there success. There is a huge difference between mimicking and imitating our leaders. And because of this watering everything down to Jesus saving sinners or every verse in the Bible is about how Jesus saves the church as become anemic and is easily pushed over by the culture around us and has no answers to the problems of our day. Today’s preaching is nothing like Jesus’s preaching or the Apostles preaching or the epistles. It’s more like trying to recreate “insert favorite preacher” Spurgeon, McArthur, Calvin, Stott, Loyd Jones and create the fire and manufacture a response. This podcast tries to capture the “how to” and formulas of a manufactured response. And is entirely man centered and thinks the main audience of preaching is man. When Jesus came proclaim the good new of the kingdom. Paul says we proclaim Jesus. We’ve turned proclamation into suggesting and convincing that Jesus is better and have completely gotten everything backwards and the ones who suffer is us the everyday Christian. But like Paul says at least Christ is mentioned and God can use crooked sticks to draw straight lines.
