Beneath a Borrowed Sky (ft. Sam Frearson-Tubito)

Sam joins us on the podcast today to share about her book and her own TCK experience being a 3rd generation TCK. Sam is a third-generation global nomad/ or TCK who has raised four fourth-generation global nomads/or TCKs. Her four children live all over the world in Barcelona, Portland, OR, San Diego, and Sydney, and Sam and her husband now live in Madrid, Spain. This is the 16th country she has lived in. Will it be her last? For four generations, her family has moved around the globe. Traveling and wandering are in her DNA. Will it continue with her children’s children? Who knows! Sam believes that an individual's identity springs more from who you are rather than where you are from. She prefers to ask someone where they grew up rather than where they are from. She describes home as an amalgamation of places, things, and people she loves. Now, she is concentrating on writing her memoir -Wandering Identity; Beneath a Borrowed Sky – and hopes to have it published sometime in 2025. She has given talks about her global nomadic life experience to international schools and expat parents. She supports fellow global families by sharing snippets of her life story in her blog, www.wanderingidentity.com, Book: Beneath a Borrowed Sky: One Woman’s Search for the True Meaning of Home----------------- If you would like to be a guest on the podcast or just want to connect, feel free to reach out!I Insta: @maries.tck.memories Like what you hear? Writing a Memoir (ft. Esther Harder)

Book coach and fellow TCK, Esther joins us on this podcast as she talks about how she helps others write their memoirs. Esther Harder is a book coach whose mission is to get more TCK stories out into the world. Coming from a family of multigenerational missionaries and serving as a development worker herself in East Africa, Esther knows firsthand how the TCK struggle to claim belonging, make connections, and create a home puts TCKs in a unique position to write about their discoveries and superpowers, such as empathy, resilience, and tolerance for discomfort: Skills we need more of in our communities.
