Cleveland Cavaliers | 2022-2023 NBA Team Preview

2022 Record: 44-38  Over/Under 46.5  Title Odds: +3000   One of the best stories of last season was the emergence of the Cleveland Cavaliers into one of the most exiting young teams to follow. An off-season trade for NBA All Star Donovan Mitchell paired with one of the best cores in the league have this Cavs team entering the 2023 season with real expectations.   Important Questions:  -Donovan Mitchell trade package  -Donovan Mitchell & Darius Garland backcourt fit  -Year 2 expectations for Evan Mobley  -How are the defensive minutes for this team in the minutes where Jarrett Allen & Evan Mobley aren’t on the floor together?

Boston Celtics | 2022-2023 NBA Team Preview

Coming off trip to the NBA Finals, the Celtics upgraded their second unit and brought in an additional secondary ball handler  with Malcolm Brogdon. The off-season hasn’t been smooth sailing as fellow off-season acquisition Danilo Gallinari suffered a torn ACL playing for Italy during EuroBasket.  Head coach Ime Udoka also finding himself suspended for the season for being too horny & a Robert Williams knee procedure that will cause him to miss at least the first couple of weeks of the season have now added a cloud of uncertainty to a team coming off a great season.    2021-22 Record: 51-31; Lost NBA Finals (2-4) to Warriors   2022-23 NBA Win Total Odds: 54.5 wins    2022-23 NBA Title Odds: +550    Important Questions:  -What does the next step for Jayson Tatum look like?  -After being in off-season trade rumors for Kevin Durant, does Jaylen Brown’s future reside in Boston?  -Closing lineup? Which of Malcolm Brogdon or Derrick white loses out on the chance to close games?

    Philadelphia 76ers Team Preview

2022 Record: 51-31 (4th in the East)  Over/Under 50.5:   NBA Title odds: +1400   The first full season of the Joel Embiid and James Harden duo has the Sixers projected as one of the true title contenders in the NBA. There’s a strong argument to be made that this roster is the overall best collection of talent that Embiid has had aside from the short tenure where he was teammates with Jimmy Butler.    Hot topic questions:  —What version of James Harden will the Sixers get this year?  -Year 3 of Tyrese Maxey. Possible all star berth within reach?  -MVP Voter Fatigue: Is this the year Joel Embiid wins his MVP?  -Closing lineups? Hosts:  @PoloPiffington @JacksonLloydNBA @iLoveShawn5000

    Brooklyn Nets Season Preview

The upcoming season will be year 4 of the Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving partnership on Atlantic Avenue. A failure to launch for a myriad of reasons including: KD’s Achilles injury, more poor injury luck with James Harden & Kyrie not being 100% in the 2021 Eastern Conference SemiFinals against Milwaukee, and Kyrie being a faux freedom fighter who refused to get the vaccine has left this duo on the precipice of being one of the biggest disappointments during this era of player empowerment and “super teams”   Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving played just 17 games together in 2022 after playing only 27 games together previously. Talent isn’t the question but is this finally the year they’re able to capitalize on expectations?   2021-22 Record: 44-38;  Lost in first round of the playoffs to Boston (4-0)   2022-23 NBA Win Total Odds: 50.5 wins    2022-23 NBA Title Odds: +700     Burning Questions: -Who is the leader on this team?  -Can Ben Simmons propel this team into a top half of the league defense? 20th in 2022 w/ 112drtg  -Which Joe Harris does this team get?  -Overlap between Patty Mills & Seth Curry  -Day’Ron Sharpe’s role on this team. X Factor?  -What is the closing lineup?  -Can Steve Nash improve quick enough to save his job?

    Charlotte Hornets Season Preview

The 2021-2022 season saw the Charlotte Hornets have the franchise's best season since 2016. Qualifying for the play in game as the 10th seed for the second straight year, but ended the season on a sour note with a 29 point L to the Atlanta Hawks. Lamelo Ball has hit the ground running during his first two seasons in the NBA, winning Rookie of the Year and becoming the 4th youngest player in NBA history to get named to the all star game.  The problem is the team around him’s future is uncertain following Miles Bridges getting in trouble for being an alleged abuser and lack of clarity on the long term building blocks.    Burning Questions: -Year 3 of Lamelo Ball expectations  -Is a soft rebuild the best route for this team to take in 2023?  -Can Mark Williams or Kai Jones establish themselves as the center of the future this season?  -PJ Washington contract season  -Can James Bouknight or Bryce McGowens play enough defense to get consistent minutes?  -Part Two of the Steve Clifford regime as Head Coach

    Atlanta Hawks Season Preview

The Atlanta Hawks made one of the biggest splashes during the NBA offseason when they traded for 26 year old all star point guard Dejounte Murray from the San Antonio Spurs to share the backcourt with their franchise player Trae Young. After a disappointing follow up season to their Cinderella run to the eastern conference finals the season previous, can the Hawks regain their form and compete against the top teams in the stacked eastern conference? Or are they still a few pieces away?   Hot Topic Questions:  -Grading the package for the Dejounte Murray trade  -Dejounte’s fit with Trae Young & how they’re maximized sharing the same backcourt  -Aj Griffin year 1 impact?  -How valuable is Dejounte Murray’s defense?  -Is John Collins ever actually going to get traded?  -Does a Year 3 Onyeka Okonguwu breakout make Clint Capela dispensable for the future core?  -Can Nate McMillan & General Manager Travis Schlenk survive a middling year for this team?  -Lineup combinations most interested to see?    2021-22 Record: 43-39; Lost NBA Eastern Conference First Round (1-4) to Heat   2023 NBA Win Total Odds: 45.5 wins   2022-23 NBA Title Odds: +4500
