I listened to the audiobook “Lovecraft Country” by Matt Ruff about 2 months before the premiere of the HBO show. About 5 weeks into the show, I started listening to the HBO podcast, as well as the For All Nerds podcast. Once I was done with those, I found this one. About 6 minutes into the first podcast, I very nearly stopped. I was shocked that you guys had absolutely NO idea about the show (you kept mentioning how it wasn’t anything like HP Lovecraft) and that you didn’t even bother to do just a little/minimal research before each podcast. It was cute, at first, that you asked for listener’s input, but, come on, guys! The podcasts would have been so much better if you’d just researched some very basic things, so that you could provide some real opinions & honest feedback, from a White Southern perspective.
It was frustrating how you wouldn’t even take the time to Google somethings as basic as “The Safe Negro Guide”. I was left with the feeling that you are 3 very fun, warm hearted gentlemen who seem open to learning, but these podcasts were very sloppily executed. I’m not familiar with your style... maybe this is your format. I do appreciate the effort you made. I enjoyed listening to the banter and also getting a perspective that I didn’t have. So, thank you.
