Episode 1: America Through Kenyan Eyes

A Kenyan immigrant and an American business owner sit down in Goshen, Arkansas to revisit a conversation they had nearly five years ago — a conversation about America, the Constitution, faith, freedom, race, family, wealth, and what makes a society worth protecting. What begins as a reflection on America from the outside becomes something much bigger: a cross-cultural discussion about how people measure wealth, why family structure matters, why local government matters, and why ordinary citizens may understand society better than the institutions claiming to lead it. This is not a polished cable-news debate. It is two friends talking honestly across cultures, histories, and lived experience. Welcome to Citizens of Society. The Back Story: Two friends — an American (Chancellor) and a Kenyan (Sam) — reunite five years after their first discussion to reassess American identity, rights, and culture through personal experience, travel, and history. They trace the origins of their dialogue to 2021 (amid COVID-19 and perceived censorship), contrast global images of America with lived reality, question cultural shifts around family and local governance, and commit to continuing their conversation through a structured podcast series.
