It is refreshing and inspiring to find a niche podcast whose host is so clearly dedicated to the art of letter writing. Kay Collier is a highly respected and accomplished artist and businesswoman who has committed herself to bringing the beautiful art into the 21st century. As a passionate ambassador for handwritten notes and letters, that alone is reason enough for me to listen and support her show, but as I have gone back to “binge listen” to many of her back episodes, I am moved and impressed by the intelligence and sensitivity with which she approaches the topic.
Some episodes are interviews with thought leaders who provide a unique perspective to letter writing. Others are deep dives by Collier into a slice of epistolary history or any of the wide range of related artistic aspects of letter writing that sometimes include her remarkable expertise in wax seals but also inks, pens, papers, and so much more.
Perusing the episode titles does not do justice to the quality of the content. While I gravitate to some of them more than others, I have found, without exception, that every single one will uncover for me a piece of inspiration, a shift of perspective, or a new point of view that I hadn’t considered. This is what keeps me coming back when I see she’s launched a new episode.
If you are at all interested in any aspect of the Epistolary Arts, you owe it to yourself to check out Collier’s podcast “1 Sealed Letter.”
